Engineered fabrication of EGCG-UV absorber conjugated nano-assemblies for antioxidative sunscreens with broad-band absorption

Xiangyu Chen et al.

Summary: This article introduces a method of preparing broad-spectrum sunscreen by combining conventional UV absorbers with biocompatible natural products using nanotechnology. The molecular assembly of EGCG/ABA nanoparticles with good biocompatibility and antioxidant activity was successfully achieved. The sunscreen shows excellent UV protection and has the potential to promote the development of biosafe sunscreens.

Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly of Tea Polyphenols into Open-Mouthed Nanoparticles for Active Delivery Systems and Stable Carbon Bowls

Guangcan Chen et al.

Summary: Polyphenol-based hollow nanoparticles with bowl-shaped structures show promising properties in drug delivery, catalysis, and energy storage due to their improved inner surface accessibility. A novel assembly strategy using a wide selection of polyphenolic compounds, such as tea polyphenols, has been demonstrated in this study to efficiently prepare these nanoparticles with potential applications in active delivery systems, carbon spheres, and anticancer agents. This polyphenol assembly strategy also provides inspiration for further studies on the structure-property-function relationship of polyphenol-based materials.
