Prototype Design of a Domain-Wall-Based Magnetic Memory Using a Single Layer La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 Thin Film

Shizhe Wu et al.

Summary: The study presents a method for current-controllable alignment of magnetic domain walls in a single layer La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 thin film without the need for an external magnetic field, enabling low power consumption nonvolatile magnetic memory. The results indicate the dominant role of spin-orbit torque in this process.

Magnetic straintronics: Manipulating the magnetization of magnetostrictive nanomagnets with strain for energy-efficient applications

Supriyo Bandyopadhyay et al.

Summary: The field of straintronics utilizes magnetostrictive nanomagnets as primitive units to manipulate magnetizations for information processing, storage, and communication tasks while minimizing energy consumption. This approach offers advantages of nonvolatility and low energy expenditure, but also presents challenges and opportunities for advancement towards mainstream technology.

Non-volatile voltage control of in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization in polycrystalline Ni films on ferroelectric PMN-PT (001)pc substrates

M. Ghidini et al.

Summary: Researchers have discovered non-volatile converse magnetoelectric effects using a single-crystal substrate of PMN-PT(001)(pc) to control strain through voltage, achieving enhanced magnetoelectric coefficients with appropriate magnetic field history. This effect allows for electrically driven magnetization reversal and ferroelectric domain switching, which may pave the way for low-voltage magnetoelectric memories based on PMN-PT(001)(pc) membranes.

Spontaneous Formation of Ordered Magnetic Domains by Patterning Stress

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: In this work, microscopic patterning of magnetic domains was achieved by engineering stress distribution in ferromagnetic thin films deposited on nanotrenched polymeric layers. The geometric configuration of domains was spatially tuned by changing the periodicity and shape of nanotrenches. The forming mechanism of the directed magnetization was dominantly influenced by the local stress distribution due to topographic confinement.
