This research focused on the CO sensing activity of tin (IV) oxide nanofibrous layers prepared by electrospinning method. The effects of cadmium doping on crystal lattice were studied using XRD patterns. The results showed that cadmium doping had a significant effect on sensoring activity of tin (IV) oxide nanofibers.
This research focused on CO sensing activity using tin (IV) oxide nanofibrous layers. These nanofibrous layers were prepared using electrospinning method which had no beads and circular cross section. Effects of cadmium doping on crystal lattice were studied using XRD patterns. The values of lattice parameters, and in turn, unit cells volume and its density, increased very little. This change can be related to the entry of cadmium into the crystal structure of tin (IV) oxide. However, cadmium doping had no effect on unit cell angles and the same tetragonal structure was preserved. It should be noted that the peaks shifted toward larger angles, which was attributed to formation of voids at location of anions (oxygen). The results showed that doping of tin (IV) oxide nanofibers due to addition of new sites as well as catalytic properties of cadmium had a significant effect on sensoring activity.
