Multimodal Fibrous Static and Dynamic Tactile Sensor

Jarred W. Fastier-Wooller et al.

Summary: This paper presents a highly versatile, low-cost, and robust tactile sensor that utilizes a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] micronanofiber element for measuring load under static and dynamic modes. The sensor exhibits reliable and consistent measurement performance and solves surface contact issues using an in situ electrospinning fabrication method.

Enhanced Electrohydrodynamics for Electrospinning a Highly Sensitive Flexible Fiber-Based Piezoelectric Sensor

Trung-Hieu Vu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the use of a chamfered nozzle in an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) system to enhance the single-jet mode. Simulations and experiments demonstrate that the chamfered nozzle reduces the critical voltage, broadens the voltage range, and enhances homogeneity in particle and fiber generation. Furthermore, the chamfered nozzle shows advantages in fabricating highly uniform poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) (PVDF-TrFE) fibers for piezoelectric sensor development.

Electrospray propelled by ionic wind in a bipolar system for direct delivery of charge reduced nanoparticles

Van T. Dau et al.

Summary: This conceptual design utilizes electrohydrodynamic atomisation to generate and deliver nanoparticles in one system, with EHDA bipolar configuration consisting of a capillary nozzle and a pin acting as emitters and reference electrodes. The droplets' charge is reduced by interacting with counter ions during spraying process, propelled away from the electrodes by ion winds generated from corona discharge. Promising applications in effective respiratory delivery of nanomedicine can be achieved with this technique.

In-air particle generation by on-chip electrohydrodynamics

Van T. Dau et al.

Summary: Electrohydrodynamic atomization is a promising approach for respiratory treatment, involving the generation and delivery of micro/nanoparticles as carriers for drugs and antigens. The proposed design in this work utilizes dual electrospray and ionic wind at chamfered tips to simultaneously generate and deliver charged reduced particles, which shows potential for pulmonary nano-medicine delivery with simple device design and manufacturing.
