Data-Independent Acquisition Phosphoproteomics of Urinary Extracellular Vesicles Enables Renal Cell Carcinoma Grade Differentiation

Marco Hadisurya et al.

Summary: The translation of cancer signaling research into clinical application has been slow and ineffective. However, extracellular vesicles (EVs) show promise as a source for developing disease phosphoprotein markers. This study focuses on using mass spectrometry to profile urinary EV phosphoproteomics for renal cell cancer (RCC) differentiation. By optimizing the process of EV isolation, phosphopeptide enrichment, and DIA method, this study provides a powerful tool for future clinical applications.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Metabolome in Parkinson's Disease and Multiple System Atrophy

Do Hyeon Kwon et al.

Summary: Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy are two types of neurodegenerative diseases that are difficult to differentiate, especially in early stages. Identifying metabolic biomarkers is crucial for diagnosis. The metabolic profile in the cerebrospinal fluid has been found to be altered in both diseases, but the specific metabolites are still uncertain. In this study, we created a network of altered metabolites and assessed their biological functions using bioinformatics methods.

Urinary proteome profiling for stratifying patients with familial Parkinson's disease

Sebastian Virreira Winter et al.

Summary: The article presents a mass spectrometry-based proteomic workflow for urinary proteome profiling as a valuable strategy for biomarker discovery and patient stratification in Parkinson's disease (PD). The study found significant differences in urinary proteome between PD patients and healthy controls, as well as between LRRK2 G2019S carriers and non-carriers, with lysosomal dysregulation in LRRK2 G2019S mutation carriers. When combined with machine learning, the urinary proteome data alone could effectively classify mutation status and disease manifestation in PD patients.
