Somatic Symptoms, Anxiety, and Depression Among College Students in the Czech Republic and Slovakia: A Cross-Sectional Study

Summary: This study examines the mental health of Czech and Slovak college students during the COVID-19 pandemic and identifies high-risk groups and socio-demographic factors associated with mental health problems. The results show a high prevalence of anxiety, depression, and somatic symptoms among students, and significant differences between the two countries. The findings emphasize the importance of proactive measures and effective prevention programs to improve the mental health of college students in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Prevalence of mental health problems during the COVID-19 pandemic: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The meta-analysis found that the prevalence of depression, anxiety, distress, and insomnia is high among the global population during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among healthcare workers, noninfectious chronic disease patients, COVID-19 patients, and quarantined persons. Urgent interventions for mental health are needed to prevent mental health problems.

The prevalence of depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms and sleep disturbance in higher education students during the COVID-19 pandemic: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, higher education students globally are at increased risk of experiencing depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and sleep disturbances, with prevalence rates of 34%, 32%, and 33% respectively. These prevalence rates vary across geographical regions, education levels, financial situations, living arrangements, and genders. The mental health status of students has worsened compared to pre-pandemic levels.
