A Survey of Preprocessing Methods Used for Analysis of Big Data Originated From Smart Grids

Turki Ali Alghamdi et al.

Summary: This paper presents a brief survey of data preprocessing methods, specifically focusing on those used in the smart grid domain. With the emergence of smart grid, large-scale data collection has become possible. However, the accuracy of forecasting decreases when raw data is used, making data preprocessing essential. The paper provides an overview of the methods, discusses existing literature, compares different methods, presents related survey papers, and offers critical analysis. Future research directions are also discussed to guide readers.

Outage Estimation in Electric Power Distribution Systems Using a Neural Network Ensemble

Sanjoy Das et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep neural network ensemble model for outage estimation, which enhances the reliability of power distribution systems by partitioning the input space and training multiple neural networks. The results suggest that the proposed method significantly improves the estimates of outages caused by wind and lightning, and a comparative analysis with a previously published model further establishes the overall effectiveness of the deep neural network ensemble.
