High Resolution Electrochemical Imaging for Sulfur Vacancies on 2D Molybdenum Disulfide

Chaoqun Gu et al.

Summary: Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a promising catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Introducing sulfur vacancies on the MoS2 inert basal plane is a commonly used method to enhance its HER activity. However, nanoscale imaging of active sites and quantitative analysis of electrocatalytic activity in electrolyte aqueous solution pose challenges. In this study, high-resolution scanning electrochemical microscopy was used to image the HER activity of sulfur vacancies on MoS2, and the kinetic data for sulfur vacancies were quantitatively measured.

Orthogonal Charge Transfer by Precise Positioning of Silver Single Atoms and Clusters on Carbon Nitride for Efficient Piezocatalytic Pure Water Splitting

Cheng Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, efficient piezocatalytic systems for two-electron water splitting with producing H-2 and H2O2 were developed using Ag single atoms and clusters co-anchored on carbon nitride. Ag single atoms enhanced the in-plane piezoelectric polarization, while Ag clusters promoted the out-of-plane migration of piezoelectrons. Additionally, the system exhibited a larger piezoresistive effect, leading to increased carrier mobility. As a result, the system demonstrated superior H-2 and H2O2 evolution rates compared to previously reported piezocatalysts.

A mini-review on ZnIn2S4-Based photocatalysts for energy and environmental application

Guping Zhang et al.

Summary: Semiconductor photocatalysis is considered as an attractive and eco-friendly technology for addressing global energy shortage and environmental pollution. Zinc indium sulfide (ZnIn2S4) has gained research attention due to its excellent visible light absorption, high chemical durability, and low cost. However, the photocatalytic activity of pristine ZnIn2S4 is limited by its narrow visible light absorption range and fast recombination rate of electrons and holes. Various modification strategies have been developed to enhance the photocatalytic performance of ZnIn2S4 materials. This review summarizes recent progress in the construction of highly active ZnIn2S4-based photocatalysts and critically reviews their applications in hydrogen evolution, carbon dioxide photoreduction, and water pollution treatment. The current challenges and future prospects for ZnIn2S4 semiconductor photocatalysts are also discussed.
