Efficient reliability analysis based on deep learning-enhanced surrogate modelling and probability density evolution method

Tong Zhou et al.

Summary: The study presents an AL-DLGPR-PDEM method to address high-dimensional reliability problems through the combination of deep learning and Gaussian process regression. By jointly optimizing DL and GPR parameters, optimizing DLGPR network configuration, and using active learning strategy for adaptive optimization, the study achieves the goal of dealing with high-dimensional reliability problems in both static and dynamic analysis.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Two-story and Three-span Subway Station in Different Engineering Sites

Zilan Zhong et al.

Summary: This study explores optimal seismic intensity measures for predicting the seismic response of shallowly buried rectangular underground structures and develops seismic fragility curves for two-story and three-span underground subway stations. It is found that both ground motion characteristics and site profiles significantly influence the seismic fragility curves of underground structures, with underground subway stations being more vulnerable in engineering sites with lower shear velocity. Furthermore, seismic damage margin ratios are proposed as a preliminary index for earthquake risk assessment of subway stations.

Fragility Analysis for Subway Station Using Artificial Neural Network

Pengfei Huang et al.

Summary: This study proposed a novel probabilistic seismic demand model based on artificial neural network (ANN) for fragility analysis of subway stations, using a two-story and three-span subway station in Shanghai as a case study. Results showed that the ANN-based model can better predict seismic responses of structures compared to traditional models.

A deep learning approach for the solution of probability density evolution of stochastic systems

Seid H. Pourtakdoust et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a new deep learning method called DeepPDEM for solving the evolution of probability density. By utilizing the concept of physics-constrained networks, DeepPDEM learns the General Density Evolution Equation of stochastic structures. This method can solve the density evolution problem without prior simulation data and can serve as an efficient surrogate in optimization schemes or real-time applications.

Fragility assessment of tunnels in soft soils using artificial neural networks

Zhongkai Huang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a probabilistic framework based on an artificial neural network (ANN) for the seismic fragility assessment of circular tunnels in soft soils. The proposed approach considers soil-structure interaction and ground motion characteristics, resulting in reliable fragility models with a lower computational cost compared to traditional linear regression models.

Comparison of homogenous and random fields of tensile strength effects on the nonlinear dynamical response of Guandi concrete gravity dams under strong earthquake waves

Xiang Lu et al.

Summary: The spatial variability of tensile strength in concrete gravity dams exacerbates damage, reduces the continuity of damaged areas, and increases the probability of failure. This study shows that the random characteristics directly impact the nonlinear behavior of dams.

Seismic fragility assessment of Chilean skewed highway bridges

Sofia Aldea et al.

Summary: The study compares the seismic performance of Chilean skewed highway bridges in their original design and repaired condition, analyzing the influence of various factors. Repair measures significantly improve seismic performance and effectively prevent span unseating, but do not greatly improve performance at slight to moderate damage states. Skew angle and deck-abutment pounding have significant influence on seismic performance.

Effect of ground motion characteristics on seismic fragility of subway station

Jiawei Jiang et al.

Summary: The study conducted seismic fragility analysis of subway station structures using different ground motion record sets, finding that the second story was more prone to damage than the first story. The vulnerability curves varied widely for different ground motion record sets, with the near-field record set leading to higher damage conditional probability.
