Multicycling of Epoxy Thermoset Through a Two-Step Strategy of Alcoholysis and Hydrolysis using a Self-Separating Catalysis System

Xu Zhao et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a new strategy to achieve multicycling of anhydride-cured epoxy thermosets, through efficient recycling methods. The new method not only maintains high strength and stability, but also facilitates the separation and reuse of catalyst, providing an important way to reintegrate waste plastics under the background of circular economy.

New Approach to Recycling of Epoxy Resins Using Nitric Acid: Regeneration of Decomposed Products through Hydrogenation

Takuma Hanaoka et al.

Summary: A new method for recycling decomposed amine-cured epoxy resin as a curing agent was developed in this study. The recycled resin exhibited higher tensile strength and comparable tensile modulus due to the presence of aromatic amino groups. By replacing a portion of the original curing agent, the optimized formulation of the recycled resin showed tensile strength comparable to that of the virgin resin.

Catalytic, aerobic depolymerization of epoxy thermoset composites

Carlos A. Navarro et al.

Summary: The presented catalytic, aerobic conditions enable depolymerization of amine-linked epoxy thermoset matrix polymers commonly found in high-performance CFRP materials. Unlike other recycling methods, this process retains the aligned and woven fibers in the same pattern as the parent material and recovers valuable materials from the thermoset matrix.

Multiple functional materials from crushing waste thermosetting resins

Xuehui Liu et al.

Summary: The research explores novel applications of waste thermosetting resins through mechanical crushing, demonstrating excellent performances in various fields such as oil-water separation, superhydrophobic coatings, acid liquid/gas monitoring, and information storage. This work not only provides new ideas for waste treatments and functional material design, but also accelerates the transition of waste resins from lab achievements to industrial applications, improving the utilization efficiency of non-renewable resources and meeting energy conservation and environmental protection requirements.
