Scolicidal activity of biosynthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles by Mentha longifolia L. leaves against Echinococcus granulosus protoscolices

Bushra H. Shnawa et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that biosynthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles from Mentha longifolia L. leaf extracts have potent protoscolicidal activity against cystic echinococcosis. These nanoparticles showed the highest scolicidal activity at 400 ppm concentration, leading to complete mortality of the protoscolices after 150 minutes of exposure. The green synthesis of ZnO NPs provides a promising approach for the treatment of cystic echinococcosis.

Green synthesis of Ni doped ZnO nanoparticles using dandelion leaf extract and its solar cell applications

Shelan M. Mustafa et al.

Summary: Green synthesis methods have become increasingly popular in recent years for designing sub-100nm nanoparticles. These methods eliminate the harmful and/or toxic effects associated with wet chemical methods. In this study, Ni2+ ion doped ZnO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using a green synthesis method with dandelion leaf, and were surface modified for improved dispersion in aqueous solvents. The nanoparticles were characterized using various techniques and showed promising properties for applications in light harvesting efficiency enhancement.

Characterization of Eu doped ZnO micropods prepared by chemical bath deposition on p-Si substrate

Nouf Ahmed Althumairi et al.

Summary: The chemical bath deposition method was used to synthesize Eu-doped ZnO on p-type (100) silicon. The SEM image showed micropod-like ZnO formation. EDX and XPS measurements confirmed the concentration and presence of Eu ions. XRD analysis revealed the distortion of tetrahedral bonds and the lattice parameter change due to the Eu ions. Only Eu3+ emission was observed, indicating weak energy transfer. The emission of deep-level defects and Eu3+ ions caused a shift towards red color. The I-V measurements showed diode-like behavior with a constant barrier height.

Insights into the mapping of green synthesis conditions for ZnO nanoparticles and their toxicokinetics

Mo'tasem M. Alsmadi et al.

Summary: Research on ZnO nanoparticles has various medical applications, but optimizing the green synthesis of these nanoparticles is complex. ZnO nanoparticles exhibit toxicity at lower doses, which is influenced by their properties, pharmacokinetics, and the species type and age of the tested animals. Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling can be used to understand the collaborative effects of these factors, reducing the need for in vivo studies. This review serves as a guide for choosing green synthesis conditions that minimize toxicity using pharmacokinetic modeling.
