Percutaneous Internal Ring Suturing is a Safe and Effective Method for Inguinal Hernia Repair in Young Adolescents

Zenon Pogorelic et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that percutaneous internal ring suturing (PIRS) is a simple, safe, and effective method for groin hernia repair in adolescents. This technique provides excellent overall and cosmetic outcomes, with low incidence of complications and recurrences.

Analysis on Influencing Factors of Recurrence after Indirect Inguinal Hernia Laparoscopic Surgery

Yuan Cao et al.

Summary: This study aims to analyze the recurrence of indirect inguinal hernia in children after laparoscopic surgery and investigate the influencing factors. The results showed that gender, site of pathological changes, and loose hernia back wall peritoneum were the main influencing factors of recurrence, while exact high ligation and circumferential wiring could reduce the risk of recurrence.

Risk-of-bias VISualization (robvis): An R package and Shiny web app for visualizing risk-of-bias assessments

Luke A. McGuinness et al.

Summary: Despite the availability of numerous software options for evidence synthesis, there is currently no universal tool for generating figures to display and explore risk-of-bias assessments. However, tools such as the R programming environment and Shiny have made it easy to create new tools for producing evidence syntheses. The new tool robvis facilitates the rapid production of publication-quality risk-of-bias assessment figures and is available as an R package and web app.

Recurrence after laparoscopic high ligation in adolescents: A multicenter international retrospective study of ten hospitals

Alexander T. Gibbons et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the recurrence rate of laparoscopic high ligation in adolescent patients and found that the rate was similar to open repair after excluding an outlier. The use of absorbable and braided sutures was weakly associated with recurrence.

Inguinal hernia repair with or without mesh in late adolescent males

Sung Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed the data of 243 male patients aged 18-21 who underwent inguinal hernia repair, and found that there were no significant differences in immediate postoperative outcomes and recurrence rates between the mesh and no-mesh groups, but there was a significant difference in chronic pain rates.
