Investigation of Annealing Process Effects on the Response and Stability of Sprayed Co2SnO4 Film under Ethanol Vapor

Ahmed Labidi

Summary: The ethanol vapor detection properties of a layer of as-prepared Co2SnO4 were investigated before and after annealing. The layer showed a stable response to ethanol vapors of different concentrations in a dry atmosphere at the optimal working temperatures. After annealing, the layer's ethanol response increased and became more stable. The Co2SnO4/Co3O4 composite obtained after annealing could be considered as a promising sensitive layer for ethanol gas sensors.

Tuning the surface morphologies of ZnO nanofilms for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity of CO2 gas sensor

T. A. Taha et al.

Summary: ZnO nanostructures were synthesized using the SILAR strategy and the CBD method, showing different shapes depending on the deposition time. XRD analysis revealed hexagonal wurtzite structures with an increased crystallite size and reduced bandgap as the deposition time increased. The ZnO @ 12 h sensor exhibited enhanced sensitivity, higher response to CO2, and excellent selectivity compared to hydrogen and ammonia.

Effect of cycle numbers on the structural, linear and nonlinear optical properties in Fe2O3 thin films deposited by SILAR method

Ozge Erken

Summary: In this study, amorphous Fe2O3 thin films were successfully deposited on glass substrates using the SILAR method. The films exhibited porous surfaces and adjustable refractive indices in the visible range. The optical properties were characterized through measurements of transmittance and absorbance, and various optical parameters were calculated and analyzed. The results suggest that Fe2O3 thin films have potential applications in solar cells and optoelectronic devices.

Highly improved toluene gas-sensing performance of mesoporous Ag-anchored cobalt oxides nanowires

J. H. Yue et al.

Summary: Mesoporous cobalt oxide nanowires (Co3O4 NWs) were synthesized using the nanocasting method, and Ag nanoparticles with different content were attached to the surface of Co3O4 NWs. The experimental results show that Ag nanoparticles have little effect on the morphology and microstructure of Co3O4 NWs and actually exist on their surface. It is worth noting that Ag-loading significantly improves the toluene gas-sensing performance of Ag-anchored Co3O4 NWs, and the optimal Ag-loading content is Ag0.166-Co3O4 NWs.

In-situ construction of carbon-doped ZnO hollow spheres for highly efficient dimethylamine detection

Yue Xing et al.

Summary: Pure ZnO and carbon-doped ZnO hollow spheres were successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal-calcination process. The carbon doping introduced abundant defects in the mesoporous ZnO hollow spheres, leading to enhanced gas sensing performance towards dimethylamine. The response of ZnO-600 towards 200 ppm dimethylamine was significantly higher than that of Pure ZnO and ZnO-500, and the detection limit was as low as 108 ppb. The unique mesoporous microstructure and rich defects induced by in-situ carbon doping contributed to the improved sensing performance of ZnO-600.

Summary: This paper presents a facile technique to fabricate an oxide nanostructured film on a low-power microheater sensor platform for highly sensitive and selective detection of NO2 gas at low temperature. Microcube-shaped ZnSnO3 nanostructures prepared by co-precipitation method exhibit excellent gas sensing performance, attributed to their porous surface providing large surface area and suitable absorption-desorption processes.

Effect of annealing temperature on structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties of titanium dioxide nanoparticles

Dorah Kawira Muthee et al.

Summary: Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel technique and annealed to study the impact of annealing temperature on physical, morphological, photocatalytic, and optical properties. XRD measurements showed a gradual phase change from anatase to rutile with increased annealing temperature. Crystal and grain size increased with temperature, reducing specific surface area, while bandgap decreased with higher temperature. Photocatalytic activity was higher in the anatase/rutile mixed-phase compared to single anatase or rutile phase.

Design and fabrication of spinel nanocomposites derived from perovskite hydroxides as gas sensing layer for volatile organic compounds detection

Kuan Tian et al.

Summary: Spinel oxide nanocomposites of Co2SnO4/SnO2 prepared by the co-precipitation method show significantly enhanced response and selectivity towards triethylamine (TEA) in gas sensing applications, with a response rate almost 4 times higher than Co3O4/SnO2. This enhanced performance is attributed to the catalytic ability of divalent Co2+ cation in the octahedral sites in the spinel structure, resulting in improved gas absorption and catalytic performance.
