SynthMorph: Learning Contrast-Invariant Registration Without Acquired Images

Malte Hoffmann et al.

Summary: This article introduces a strategy for learning image registration without actual imaging data, which can produce powerful networks that are not affected by the contrast introduced by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). By training networks using diverse synthetic label maps and images and exposing them to a wide range of variability, the dependency on training data is eliminated, resulting in networks that accurately generalize to various MRI contrasts.

Superior Longitudinal Fasciculus: A Review of the Anatomical Descriptions With Functional Correlates

Felix Janelle et al.

Summary: This study investigates the definition and characteristics of the superior longitudinal fasciculus (SLF) and discusses the confusion regarding the arcuate fasciculus in relation to the SLF. The study finds individual variability in the SLF and proposes a new nomenclature based on the research findings.

Hippocampal subfield volumetry from structural isotropic 1 mm3 MRI scans: A note of caution

Laura E. M. Wisse et al.

Summary: In recent years, in vivo MRI investigations of human hippocampal subfield volumes have increased due to the availability of automatic segmentation software. However, the majority of these studies use automatic segmentation on MRI scans with resolutions of approximately 1 x 1 x 1 mm(3), which is insufficient for visualizing the internal structure of the hippocampus. As a result, the findings of these studies are often contradictory and surprising, particularly regarding the involvement of hippocampal subfields in normal brain function, aging, and disease.

Interactive medical image segmentation via a point-based interaction

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel interactive medical image segmentation method is proposed in this paper, which differs from previous methods by requiring the physician to only click on the rough central point of the object before segmentation, enhancing performance and reducing segmentation time. The method is utilized in a multi-level framework and has shown promising results in three different segmentation tasks.

MIDeepSeg: Minimally interactive segmentation of unseen objects from medical images using deep learning

Xiangde Luo et al.

Summary: Segmentation of organs or lesions from medical images is crucial in clinical applications, and traditional methods as well as CNN have limitations. A novel deep learning-based interactive segmentation method is proposed to efficiently handle complex cases, reduce user interactions, and exhibit strong generalization capabilities.

The Subcortical Atlas of the Rhesus Macaque (SARM) for neuroimaging

Renee Hartig et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive parcellation of the rhesus macaque subcortex using high-resolution ex vivo structural imaging scan, which was then warped to an in vivo population template to produce the Subcortical Atlas of the Rhesus Macaque (SARM) with 210 primary regions-of-interest (ROIs). The SARM allows for analysis at different resolutions and broader labeling of functional signals, making it suitable for various research purposes within the neuroimaging community.
