Supercool composite Dark Matter beyond 100 TeV

Iason Baldes et al.

Summary: The study suggests that dark matter may be a composite state of a confining sector with an approximate scale symmetry, with interactions mediated by a pseudo-Goldstone boson. Supercooling of the confining phase transition in the early universe allows for dark matter masses up to 10^6 TeV. The precise parameter space compatible with all experimental constraints in this scenario can be tested partly by telescopes and entirely by gravitational waves.

Electroweak phase transition and gravitational waves in the type-II seesaw model

Ruiyu Zhou et al.

Summary: We study the pattern of phase transition and the gravitational wave production of the type-II seesaw model, finding that a strong first-order electroweak phase transition generally prefers positive Higgs portal couplings and a light triplet below about 550 GeV. In addition, the gravitational wave yield generated during the phase transition would be at the edge of BBO sensitivity and could be further examined by Ultimate-DECIGO.

Phase transitions in an expanding universe: stochastic gravitational waves in standard and non-standard histories

Huai-Ke Guo et al.

Summary: This study carefully analyzes the stochastic gravitational wave production from cosmological phase transitions in an expanding universe, considering both radiation and matter dominated histories. The dynamics of the phase transition, including various factors like bubble lifetime distribution and mean bubble separation, are studied in detail. The study also provides insights into the gravitational wave spectrum and highlights the potential of distinguishing between different expansion histories based on features of the gravitational wave spectral form.

Gravitational waves from breaking of an extra U(1) in SO(10) grand unification

Nobuchika Okada et al.

Summary: In this paper, a successful ultraviolet completion of a U(1) extended SM by an SO(10) grand unified model through an intermediate step of SU(5) x U(1) unification is discussed. It is found that a first-order phase transition associated with the U(1) symmetry breaking can generate gravitational waves with detectable amplitude, and the resulting gravitational wave amplitude decreases and its peak frequency increases as the mass of right-handed neutrinos increases.

Phase transitions from the fifth dimension

Kaustubh Agashe et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the cosmological transition of 5D warped compactifications, demonstrating the percolation of bubbles of IR-brane nucleating from the black-brane horizon. Through semiclassical treatment of bubble nucleation, a smooth 5D bounce configuration is introduced to control the transition rate effectively. The generalization of the Goldberger-Wise mechanism modifies the IR-brane dynamics for a quicker transition, resolving issues related to supercooling and inconsistencies with data.

Gravitational waves from first-order phase transitions in Majoron models of neutrino mass

Pasquale Di Bari et al.

Summary: In this paper, we discuss how the generation of right-handed neutrino masses in Majoron models may be associated with a first-order phase transition and the production of gravitational waves background. We explore different energy scales and potential signal testing scenarios. These studies provide important insights for future experiments with gravitational wave detectors.

Baryogenesis via relativistic bubble walls

Aleksandr Azatov et al.

Summary: We proposed a novel mechanism for generating baryon asymmetry during a strong first order phase transition. By studying the ultra-relativistic propagation of bubble walls, we showed that states much heavier than the transition scale can be produced, leading to out-of-equilibrium effects with potential implications for baryogenesis. Models based on this mechanism were discussed, highlighting stochastic gravitational wave signals as generic signatures.

Implications for First-Order Cosmological Phase Transitions from the Third LIGO-Virgo Observing Run

Alba Romero et al.

Summary: Constraints on the normalized energy density in gravitational waves from first-order strong phase transitions are placed using data from Advanced LIGO and Virgo, with upper limits determined at a 95% confidence level for different models. The study considers astrophysical signals as foreground and discusses the background due to bubble collisions and sound waves from phase transitions occurring at temperatures above 10(8) GeV.

Dark Matter production from relativistic bubble walls

Aleksandr Azatov et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel mechanism for generating the observed Dark Matter relics during the First Order Phase Transition in the early universe, by studying the impact of bubble expansion with ultra-relativistic velocities on the abundance of DM particles. The non-thermal production mechanism is investigated in the context of generic and electroweak phase transitions, with discussions on its application to Higgs portal DM and the signals in the Stochastic Gravitational Background.

Baryogenesis via relativistic bubble expansion

Iason Baldes et al.

Summary: This translation presents a novel mechanism for baryogenesis where heavy particles are the source of the asymmetry during a strong phase transition. The particles decay in a CP-violating way inside bubbles, meeting the necessary conditions for baryogenesis. The mechanism relies on moderate supercooling and relativistic walls for successful operation.

Gravitational waves from minisplit SUSY

Bartosz Fornal et al.

Summary: Color-breaking vacua may develop at high temperature in the minisplit supersymmetry scenario, leading to a nontrivial cosmological history with strong first order phase transitions and domain wall production. A stochastic gravitational wave background is expected around 1 kHz due to the typical PeV energy scale associated with minisplit SUSY models. The potential for detection of such a signal in future gravitational wave experiments has been studied.

Escape from supercooling with or without bubbles: gravitational wave signatures

Marek Lewicki et al.

Summary: Quasi-conformal models provide an appealing scenario with a strong supercooled phase transition and thermal inflation in the early Universe. The study suggests that thermal inflation phase may end by nucleation and percolation of true vacuum bubbles, or by the growth of quantum fluctuations of the scalar field. Gravitational waves offer an observable signal from thermal inflation across almost the entire parameter space of interest, and their spectrum shape can reveal how the Universe escaped from supercooling.

Testing the dark SU(N) Yang-Mills theory confined landscape: From the lattice to gravitational waves

Summary: By combining first principle lattice results and effective field theory approaches, essential information about the nonperturbative dark deconfinement phase transition can be inferred, helping to constrain dark sectors in future gravitational-wave detection experiments. Information about the order, duration, and energy budget of the phase transition is crucial in determining the strength of the resulting gravitational-wave signal.

Summary: This study reports the results of a search for an isotropic gravitational-wave background using data from advanced detectors, placing upper limits on the strength of different types of gravitational-wave backgrounds. The study also explores the potential sources of correlated noise and compares the results to a fiducial model for the gravitational-wave background. Additionally, the study demonstrates the potential of combining results from individual mergers to provide stronger constraints on the merger rate of binary black holes.
