Gravitational waves from dark SU(3) Yang-Mills theory

Enrico Morgante et al.

Summary: We estimate the gravitational wave signal emitted in the confinement transition of a pure SU(3) Yang-Mills dark sector by analyzing the phase transition in improved holographic QCD. We calculate the energy budget and duration of the phase transition with minor errors using the derived effective action from holography. These calculations are then used to predict the gravitational wave signal. This is the first computation of gravitational wave signal in a holographic model designed to match lattice data on the thermal properties of pure Yang-Mills.

A novel background field approach to the confinement-deconfinement transition

Duifje Maria van Egmond et al.

Summary: We propose a novel approach for studying the confinement-deconfinement transition in Yang-Mills theories by using a background-field generalisation of the Landau gauge. We demonstrate that the electric susceptibility diverges at a second order transition in this gauge, making the gluon propagator a clear probe of the transition. By implementing our method in the Curci-Ferrari model, we obtain transition temperatures that are in excellent agreement with lattice values.

Glueball Dark Matter Revisited

Pierluca Carenza et al.

Summary: This paper reexamines the possibility of dark matter being composed of stable scalar glueballs, and studies the relic abundance of glueballs in a thermal effective theory. The use of an effective potential fitted by lattice simulations leads to a prediction that is an order of magnitude smaller than existing results.

Consistent approach to study gluon quasiparticles

Chowdhury Aminul Islam et al.

Summary: We discuss a novel approach for estimating the partition function in effective model frameworks with multiple extrema in effective potentials, making it difficult to determine the mean field. Using this approach, we present a consistent model to investigate the thermodynamic properties of gluon quasiparticles as a function of temperature, in both the color confined and deconfined phases.

Dark confinement-deconfinement phase transition: a roadmap from Polyakov loop models to gravitational waves

Zhaofeng Kang et al.

Summary: In this study, the first order confinement-deconfinement phase transition of SU(N) pure Yang-Mills theory is explored using Polyakov loop models (PLMs) and gravitational wave (GW) spectra. The models with Haar measure term are found to be incompatible with large N scaling reported from lattice simulations, leading to the proposal of 4-6 PLM and 4-8 PLM models which exhibit consistent thermodynamic properties and can be probed in future interferometers.

Testing the dark SU(N) Yang-Mills theory confined landscape: From the lattice to gravitational waves

Wei-Chih Huang et al.

Summary: By combining first principle lattice results and effective field theory approaches, essential information about the nonperturbative dark deconfinement phase transition can be inferred, helping to constrain dark sectors in future gravitational-wave detection experiments. Information about the order, duration, and energy budget of the phase transition is crucial in determining the strength of the resulting gravitational-wave signal.

Fluctuations of the order parameter in an SU(Nc) effective model

Pok Man Lo et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the deconfinement phase transition in an SU(Nc) gauge theory, analyzing fluctuations of the order parameter and showing peculiarities in curvature masses and observables near the transition temperature. The competition between different forces is sensitive to dynamics assumptions, highlighting an interesting link between vacuum structure and gluon/ghost propagator properties.

Gravitational waves from dark Yang-Mills sectors

James Halverson et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the production of gravitational wave signals by dark Yang-Mills sectors in the early universe, calculating the signal by constructing an effective potential of the semi quark-gluon plasma phase. It is found that the signal is maximized when the dark sector dominates the energy density of the universe at the time of the phase transition.
