Causality violations in realistic simulations of heavy-ion collisions

Christopher Plumberg et al.

Summary: Causality is violated in the early stages of state-of-the-art heavy-ion hydrodynamic simulations, but the number of cells that are definitely causal increases as the evolution progresses. The inclusion of pre-equilibrium evolution significantly reduces the number of acausal cells. Relativistic causality may place constraints on the available parameter space of heavy-ion collision simulations when factored into more thorough statistical analyses.

Phenomenological Constraints on the Transport Properties of QCD Matter with Data-Driven Model Averaging

D. Everett et al.

Summary: This study utilizes combined data from different colliders to constrain the shear and bulk viscosities of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) at specific temperatures, providing the most reliable phenomenological constraints to date by using Bayesian inference and model averaging.

Transverse Momentum Differential Global Analysis of Heavy-Ion Collisions

Govert Nijs et al.

Summary: Understanding heavy ion collisions and the formation of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) requires a complex interplay of rich physics based on experimental data. By comparing the transverse momentum dependence of identified particles in PbPb and pPb collisions, this study shows different physical characteristics in the QGP formation process. Introducing a free streaming velocity variable in a global model fit widens the scope of initial conditions, while varying three second order transport coefficients during the hydrodynamic phase.

Bayesian analysis of heavy ion collisions with the heavy ion computational framework TRAJECTUM

Govert Nijs et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a model for heavy ion collisions called TRAJECTUM, which includes an expanded initial stage and a hydrodynamic stage. A Gaussian emulator is used to obtain Bayesian posterior estimates on the parameters, and these estimates are tested through closure tests and convergence studies. Finally, optimal parameter values are used to compare experimental data.

Prehydrodynamic evolution and its signatures in final-state heavy-ion observables

T. Nunes da Silva et al.

Summary: In heavy-ion collisions, the effects of prehydrodynamic evolution on final-state observables mainly manifest in the momentum spectra, with part of this effect stemming from the violation of conformal invariance assumption. Therefore, a consistent treatment of prehydrodynamic evolution in heavy-ion collisions necessitates the use of nonconformal models.

Multisystem Bayesian constraints on the transport coefficients of QCD matter

D. Everett et al.

Summary: By combining different modules, we studied the properties of strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma. Our research emphasizes the importance of validation process and the constraints and sensitivity of experimental data on the viscosity of quark-gluon plasma. We also explored the impact of different model parameters on observational results.
