Fortified gelatin-based hydrogel scaffold with simvastatin-mixed nanomicelles and platelet rich plasma as a promising bioimplant for tissue regeneration

Sarah Yahia et al.

Summary: This study aimed at developing a bioimplant for the treatment of damaged intervertebral discs that can maintain their function. The implant, composed of a fortified gelatin-based hydrogel, mimics the mechanical properties of intervertebral discs and releases bioactive agents. Experimental results showed that the implant has good biocompatibility and promotes healing.

Dual antituberculosis drugs-loaded gelatin hydrogel bioimplant for treating spinal tuberculosis

Sarah Yahia et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a bioimplant scaffold for treating spinal tuberculosis by using a biocompatible semi-interpenetrating gelatin-based hydrogel incorporated with mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with rifampicin and levofloxacin. The scaffold showed good mechanical properties and biocompatibility, and exhibited the ability to eradicate the TB pathogen.

Flexible self-healing nanocomposite based gelatin/tannic acid/acrylic acid reinforced with zinc oxide nanoparticles and hollow silver nanoparticles based on porous silica for rapid wound healing

Ashkan Farazin et al.

Summary: Gelatin, tannic acid, and acrylic acid are used as a matrix in the research. Zinc oxide nanoparticles and hollow silver nanoparticles with ascorbic acid are considered as reinforcement. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) are used to analyze the functional groups and phases of the nanoparticles, while scanning electron microscope analysis (FESEM) is used to investigate the morphology and porosity. Mechanical tests and antibacterial/toxicity tests are performed to determine the optimal state of the composite. The results show that the sample with 30 wt% of zinc oxide and 5 wt% of hollow nanoparticles exhibits the best mechanical and biological properties.

Design, Synthesis, and Fabrication of Chitosan/Hydroxyapatite Composite Scaffold for Use as Bone Replacement Tissue by Sol-Gel Method

Ashkan Farazin et al.

Summary: In this study, hydroxyapatite nanoparticles were synthesized and incorporated with chitosan to prepare composite scaffold samples with varying hydroxyapatite content. The synthesized hydroxyapatite and scaffold samples were characterized using various analysis methods. The results showed that the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the scaffold samples were closely related to the hydroxyapatite content.

Effect of hexagonal structure nanoparticles on the morphological performance of the ceramic scaffold using analytical oscillation response

Ashkan Farazin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of TiO2 nanoparticles on the properties of PCL porous bone implants, revealing that the addition of TiO2 can alter the physical and mechanical characteristics of the scaffolds, as well as slow down the degradation rate. The fabricated bio-nanocomposite scaffolds demonstrated high total porosity and pore sizes suitable for bone cell growth, indicating potential for use as bone substitutes.
