Socioeconomic Disparities in the Demand for and Use of Virtual Visits Among Senior Adults During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Cross-sectional Study

Summary: This study explores socioeconomic disparities in the demand for and use of virtual visits during the COVID-19 pandemic among older adults in Canada. A web survey was conducted with 12,052 Canadians over the age of 16, and the results showed that older adults had the highest demand for and use of telephone visits, followed by video visits and secure messaging. Socioeconomic factors such as income, education, and immigration background were found to be associated with the use of different virtual care modalities.

Breaking sitting and engaging in physical activity can reverse the adverse effects associated with excessive sitting during lockdown.
