Free energy and entropy in Rindler and de Sitter space-times

E. T. Akhmedov et al.

Summary: We investigate the free energy and entropy of the Gaussian massive scalar field theory in static de Sitter space-time for arbitrary temperature. For the inverse temperatures of the form beta = 2 pi 2(k), k is an element of Z, in curvature units, we find the explicit form of the free energy and its derivatives with respect to temperature. There are two types of contributions to the free energy: one is of the area type and can be attributed to the horizon, while the other is of the volume type and is associated with the interior of the space-time. The latter contribution significantly depends on temperature in the odd-dimensional case for the limit of weak field (large mass or small Hubble constant).

Curved space equilibration versus flat space thermalization: A short review

E. T. Akhmedov

Summary: The discussion focuses on the equilibration process in expanding Universes compared to thermalization in Minkowski spacetime. It argues that considering more generic non-invariant states is necessary to understand quantum field dynamics in strongly curved backgrounds. These non-invariant states have effects on observables in highly curved spacetimes due to the presence of IR secular memory effects.

WICK ROTATION AND THE POSITIVITY OF ENERGY IN QUANTUM FIELD THEORY

Summary: The proposed axiom system assumes the extension of partition function and correlators to a domain of complex-valued metrics; ordinary Riemannian metrics are within this domain, while Lorentzian metrics lie on its boundary.

Quantum fields in the future Rindler wedge

E. T. Akhmedov et al.

Summary: The text discusses interacting massive scalar quantum field theory in the future Rindler wedge, and investigates how the dynamics of correlation functions depend on the choice of initial Cauchy surface, mode basis, and initial state. It shows which mode choices in the future Rindler wedge respect Poincare symmetry, but also mentions that attention is not restricted to these modes and corresponding ground state.

Interacting quantum fields in various charts of anti-de Sitter spacetime

E. T. Akhmedov et al.

Summary: This paper explores the possibility of defining quantum field theory in different anti-de Sitter spacetimes and the issues that arise. It is found that global anti-de Sitter spacetime presents problems due to an additional UV singularity in the Feynman propagator, while quantum field theory in the Poincare region can be well defined and related to Euclidean AdS through analytic continuation.

Heating up an environment around black holes and inside de Sitter space

E. T. Akhmedov et al.

Summary: We study quantum fields on spacetimes with a bifurcate Killing horizon, allowing for different temperatures of left and right (ingoing and outgoing) modes. We find that in cases where temperatures deviate from the canonical values, the correlation functions exhibit additional singularities at the horizon.
