Joint analysis of Dark Energy Survey Year 3 data and CMB lensing from SPT and Planck. III. Combined cosmological constraints

T. M. C. Abbott et al.

Summary: We present cosmological constraints from the analysis of two-point correlation functions between galaxy positions and galaxy lensing measured in Dark Energy Survey (DES) Year 3 data and measurements of cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing from the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and Planck. The joint analysis of DES-only two-point functions and DES cross-correlations with CMB lensing yields Omega(m) = 0.344 + 0.030 and S-8 equivalent to sigma(8)(Omega(m)/0.3)(0.5) = 0.773 +/- 0.016. Combining with measurements of the CMB lensing autospectrum, we find omega m = 0.306(-0.021)(+0.018) and S-8 = 0.792 +/- 0.012. The CMB lensing cross-correlations provide consistency tests and suggest possible problems with alternative lens galaxy samples.

Joint analysis of Dark Energy Survey Year 3 data and CMB lensing and cosmological constraints

C. Chang et al.

Summary: Cross-correlations between galaxy positions and galaxy shears with CMB lensing maps are measured and modeled to study the large-scale structure in the Universe. These cross-correlations provide less systematic biases compared to internal galaxy surveys. Constraints on cosmological parameters are obtained using the cross-correlation measurements, and the results are consistent with cosmic shear measurements but lower than Planck's primary CMB measurements in terms of S8 value.

CMB/kSZ and Compton-y Maps from 2500 deg2 of SPT-SZ and Planck Survey Data

L. E. Bleem et al.

Summary: This study presents component-separated maps of the primary cosmic microwave background/kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) amplitude and the thermal SZ Compton-y parameter. The maps, created using data from the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and the Planck satellite, have higher angular resolution and lower noise at small angular scales compared to previous products. Validation tests show good performance in sky modeling and combination algorithms. These data products have great potential for astrophysical and cosmological analyses.

Cosmological constraints from the tomographic cross-correlation of DESI Luminous Red Galaxies and Planck CMB lensing

Martin White et al.

Summary: Using luminous red galaxies selected from imaging surveys for targeting by the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) in combination with CMB lensing maps from the Planck collaboration, researchers probed the amplitude of large-scale structure over 0.4 <= z <= 1. Their findings suggest a slower growth of structure at low redshift than model predictions, with only modest significance.

Dark Energy Survey Y3 results: blending shear and redshift biases in image simulations

N. MacCrann et al.

Summary: The study discusses the necessity of large, realistic simulations to calibrate observational systematics in galaxy weak lensing, especially in the presence of object blending. It describes the methodology of estimating the effective redshift distribution for lensing using image simulations, and evaluates the shear estimation pipeline performance on DES Year 3 data. Blending-related effects are identified as the dominant contributor to shear calibration biases. By generating simulations with varying input shear signals with redshift, biases in estimating effective redshift distribution are calibrated.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: marginalization over redshift distribution uncertainties using ranking of discrete realizations

Juan P. Cordero et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new method called hyperrank is introduced for marginalizing over redshift distribution uncertainties, which can improve computational efficiency in weak lensing surveys. By using discrete samples and summary values, this method can effectively marginalize over various models of redshift distribution.

Dark Energy Survey year 3 results: Constraints on cosmological parameters and galaxy-bias models from galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing using the redMaGiC sample

S. Pandey et al.

Summary: This study uses data from Dark Energy Survey (DES) year-3 to constrain cosmological parameters and galaxy-bias parameters. The analysis combines measurements of galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing. The study finds inconsistencies between the galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing measurements, likely due to systematic measurement errors. By changing the selection criteria for the galaxy sample, the study obtains more consistent results.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmology from cosmic shear and robustness to data calibration

A. Amon et al.

Summary: This work presents the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 cosmic-shear measurements and cosmological constraints based on an analysis of over 100 million source galaxies, while a companion paper provides further details. The measurements are consistent with the Λ CDM model and yield precise results for the clustering amplitude and S-8. The low-redshift measurements agree with the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background result, but the high-redshift prediction is lower. The measurements demonstrate internal consistency and robustness to calibration systematics and blending of galaxies. The precision of the cosmological constraints is mainly limited by modeling baryonic effects and intrinsic alignments.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmology from cosmic shear and robustness to modeling uncertainty

L. F. Secco et al.

Summary: This paper presents cosmic shear measurements and cosmological constraints from the Darki Energy Survey (DES) Year 3 data, using over 100 million source galaxies. The lensing amplitude parameter S-8 is constrained at the 3% level in the ΛCDM model, and the robustness of the results to modeling of intrinsic alignments is explored. Constraints from other weak lensing experiments and the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) are compared, and the statistical preference for different complexity intrinsic alignment models is examined.

Dark Energy Survey year 3 results: covariance modelling and its impact on parameter estimation and quality of fit

O. Friedrich et al.

Summary: Researchers described and tested a fiducial covariance matrix model for the combined two-point function analysis of the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 data set, validating the assumptions and approximations of the model. The study found that the model is robust and approximations have little impact on goodness of fit and parameter estimation. The dominant effect on parameter estimation arises from uncertainty in the exact parameters used to evaluate the covariance model.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Optimizing the lens sample in a combined galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing analysis

A. Porredon et al.

Summary: By optimizing the selection of lens galaxy samples and utilizing data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) Year 3, significant improvements in cosmological constraints can be achieved when combining galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing. With the wCDM and ACDM models, the optimal selection leads to enhancements of 20% to 40% in constraint parameters compared to traditional samples. For the flux-limited sample, further gains in constraint effectiveness can be obtained by increasing the number of tomographic bins or including bin cross-correlations.
