Evaluation of the agreement between the ACR 1990 fibromyalgia tender points and an enthesitis score in patients with axial spondyloarthritis

Faten Hamitouche et al.

Summary: The coexistence of fibromyalgia (FM) and enthesitis in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) poses a challenge in evaluation. This study assessed the agreement between the MASES enthesitis score and the tender points of the ACR 1990 criteria in axSpA patients. The results suggest a significant overlap between both scores in axSpA patients, including those without concomitant FM.

Efficacy and safety of secukinumab in patients with spondyloarthritis and enthesitis at the Achilles tendon: results from a phase 3b trial

Frank Behrens et al.

Summary: Objective ACHILLES aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of secukinumab in treating Achilles' tendon enthesitis in spondyloarthritis patients. Although the study did not meet the primary endpoint, it reported clinically meaningful improvements in patient-related outcomes, including resolution of enthesitis and reduction in heel pain with secukinumab treatment.

Enthesitis in patients with psoriatic arthritis and axial spondyloarthritis - data from the Danish nationwide DANBIO registry

Ashish J. Mathew et al.

Summary: This study explored the registration, pattern, and burden of clinical enthesitis among routine-care patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in the Danish nationwide DANBIO registry. The results showed that enthesitis was frequent, particularly in women, and associated with a higher disease burden reported by both physicians and patients.

Apremilast monotherapy for long-term treatment of active psoriatic arthritis in DMARD-naive patients

Alvin F. Wells et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the long-term efficacy of Apremilast monotherapy in PsA patients over a period of 5 years. The results showed that Apremilast led to sustained improvement in PsA symptoms and signs, including reduction in joint swelling and tenderness. It was also effective in treating psoriasis. Apremilast was well tolerated throughout the study period.

Identification of clinical phenotypes of peripheral involvement in patients with spondyloarthritis, including psoriatic arthritis: a cluster analysis in the worldwide ASAS-PerSpA study

Clementina Lopez-Medina et al.

Summary: The study identified two main phenotypes (predominantly axial and predominantly peripheral) in patients with SpA, based on the presence and location of peripheral manifestations. In the predominantly axial phenotype, hip involvement and lower limb large joint arthritis, heel enthesitis, and lack of dactylitis were more prevalent. In the predominantly peripheral phenotype, different subgroups were distinguished based on the type and location of peripheral involvement.

Resolution of enthesitis by guselkumab and relationships to disease burden: 1-year results of two phase 3 psoriatic arthritis studies

Dennis McGonagle et al.

Summary: The study confirmed the efficacy of guselkumab in treating enthesitis, especially in resolving enthesitis and improving disease activity in patients. The results showed that guselkumab could continuously improve the condition of enthesitis and may have a positive impact on patient outcomes.

Prevalence and distribution of peripheral musculoskeletal manifestations in spondyloarthritis including psoriatic arthritis: results of the worldwide, cross-sectional ASAS-PerSpA study

Clementina Lopez-Medina et al.

Summary: This study included 4465 patients with SpA from 24 countries around the world, showing quantitative differences in peripheral manifestations among different subtypes but no significant qualitative differences. It was found that a high proportion of patients with SpA had both axial and peripheral manifestations coinciding.
