Electro-enhanced sulfamethoxazole degradation efficiency via carbon embedding iron growing on nickel foam cathode activating peroxymonosulfate: Mechanism and degradation pathway

Yiwu Tang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) using carbon embedding iron (C@Fe) catalysts. The results show that the EC-[C@Fe/NF(II)]-PMS system achieves 100% SMX removal efficiency within 30 minutes. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), particularly singlet oxygen (O-1(2)), play a crucial role in SMX degradation. The study also proposes possible degradation pathways based on the detected intermediates and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The work provides a practical strategy to enhance PMS activation efficiency and promote antibiotics removal.

Fabrication of binary g-C3N4/UU-200 composites with enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance toward organic pollutant eliminations

Trinh Duy Nguyen et al.

Summary: In this study, g-C3N4/UU-200 heterojunction photocatalysts were successfully fabricated and exhibited superior photocatalytic activity for organic pollutant elimination under white LED light irradiation. The enhanced performance can be attributed to the anchoring effect of the g-C3N4 layered structure on the UU-200 surface, which promotes the decrease of the bandgap of UU-200, and the suitable heterojunction structure, which improves the light-induced charge separation efficiency. The 40% g-C3N4/UU-200 composite showed the highest photocatalytic activity and could be recycled four times, indicating its potential as a visible-light-sensitive catalyst for organic pollutant elimination.
