This study reports the production of aromatic ketones using a solid acid catalyst modified with p-divinylbenzene-vinylimidazole, 1,3-propanesultone, and trifluoromethanesulfonate. The catalyst showed high conversion and selectivity for anisole to p-methoxyacetophenone using acetic anhydride as the acylating agent. The porous acidic ionic liquid polymer efficiently acylated various aromatic substrates and was reusable.
This work reports aromatic ketone production by a solid acid catalyst made from p-divinylbenzene-vinylimidazole modified with 1,3-propanesultone and trifluoromethanesulfonate. The catalyst exhibited excellent conversion and selectivity for anisole to p-methoxyacetophenone with the acylating agent acetic anhydride. The porous acidic ionic liquid polymer efficiently acylated multiple other aromatic substrates and was reusable.
