Policy options for strengthening evidence-informed health policy-making in Iran: overall SASHA project findings

Summary: This study aims to develop a road map for enhancing evidence-informed health policy-making in Iran. Through three phases, the study identified barriers to evidence-informed health policy-making, recognized interventions, and measured the use of evidence in policy-making. The study categorized 97 barriers into three groups and identified 32 interventions through synthesis and policy dialogues. The study provides a comprehensive framework for strengthening evidence-informed health policy-making in Iran and emphasizes the importance of operational plans and good governance principles.

Public preferences regarding the priority setting criteria of health interventions for budget allocation: results of a survey of Iranian adults

Summary: This study aimed to understand the public preferences for health intervention allocation criteria in Iran and provide insights for the optimal allocation of public health budget. The findings showed that the Iranian general public values equitable allocation criteria, including patients' economic status, societal aspects such as absenteeism from work and the need for daily care, as well as medical aspects such as disease severity and access to alternative interventions.

Contrasting the recommendations of participatory value evaluation and cost-benefit analysis in the context of urban mobility investments

Summary: Participatory Value Evaluation (PVE) and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) are two methods used to assess the desirability of government projects. This study investigates whether these methods lead to different policy recommendations in the context of urban mobility investments. Findings suggest that projects focusing on traffic safety and improvements for cyclists/pedestrians rank higher in PVE, while car projects rank higher in CBA analysis.

Prioritizing solutions to incorporate Prosthetics and Orthotics services into Iranian health benefits package: Using an analytic hierarchy process

Summary: The study aims to identify and prioritize solutions to facilitate and promote P&O services in the Iranian HBP. Using a mixed-methods approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather potential solutions, followed by an analytic hierarchy process to prioritize them based on specific criteria. Preventive interventions, infant-specific interventions, inpatient interventions, interventions until 6 years of age, and emergency interventions were identified as the top priorities for inclusion in the Iranian HBP.
