Search for the Majorana Nature of Neutrinos in the Inverted Mass Ordering Region with KamLAND-Zen

S. Abe et al.

Summary: The KamLAND-Zen experiment has placed strict constraints on the half-life of neutrinoless double-beta (0vfifi) decay in 136Xe, using a xenon-loaded liquid scintillator. By upgrading the detector and increasing the amount of xenon, the experiment has achieved an exposure of 970 kg yr of 136Xe. The new data provides valuable insights into backgrounds and requires the use of innovative background rejection techniques. The experiment has set a lower limit for the 0vfifi decay half-life of T0v 1/2 > 2.3 x 1026 yr at 90% C.L., corresponding to upper limits on the effective Majorana neutrino mass of 36-156 meV using commonly adopted nuclear matrix element calculations.

Final Result of the MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR?s Search for Neutrinoless Double-? Decay in 76Ge

I. J. Arnquist et al.

Summary: The MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR conducted a search for neutrinoless double-beta decay (0 nu beta beta) in 76Ge using modular arrays of high-purity Ge detectors operated in vacuum cryostats within a low-background shield. The arrays consisted of up to 40.4 kg of detectors, with 27.2 kg enriched to approximately 88% in 76Ge. Through these measurements, the DEMONSTRATOR achieved an accumulated active exposure of 64.5 kg yr. By achieving a world-leading energy resolution of 2.52 keV FWHM at the 2039 keV Q beta beta (0.12%), we established a half-life limit for 0 nu beta beta in 76Ge at T1/2 > 8.3 x 1025 yr (90% C.L.). This result provides upper limits on m beta beta ranging from (113-269) meV (90% C.L.), depending on the choice of nuclear matrix elements.

Cosmic neutrino flux and spin flavor oscillations in intergalactic medium

Ashutosh Kumar Alok et al.

Summary: Ultra high energy cosmic neutrinos are crucial for exploring physics beyond the standard model and serving as cosmic messengers. The flux of cosmic neutrinos can be affected by spin-flavor oscillations if neutrinos have a finite magnetic moment and traverse through the extragalactic magnetic field. However, the effect of mu(v) can be neglected if the current upper bound is significantly improved even if neutrinos travel through the size of the visible universe.

Implications of first LZ and XENONnT results: A comparative study of neutrino properties and light mediators

K. A. ShivaSankar et al.

Summary: Next generation direct dark matter detection experiments are important for studying neutrino properties and light mediators beyond the Standard Model. Recent data from LUX-ZEPLIN and XENONnT collaborations have provided valuable insights on electromagnetic neutrino interactions and neutrino generalized interactions. XENONnT has placed the most stringent upper limits on various neutrino parameters, including the effective and transition neutrino magnetic moment, while also improving constraints on neutrino millicharge compared to existing experiments.

Neutrino magnetic moments meet precision Neff measurements

Shao-Ping Li et al.

Summary: In the early universe, Dirac neutrino magnetic moments due to their chirality-flipping nature could lead to thermal production of right-handed neutrinos, which would make a significant contribution to the effective neutrino number, N-eff. We present in this paper a dedicated computation of the neutrino chirality-flipping rate in the thermal plasma. With a careful and consistent treatment of soft scattering and the plasmon effect in finite temperature field theories, we find that neutrino magnetic moments above 2.7 x 10(-12)mu(B) have been excluded by current CMB and BBN measurements of N-eff, assuming flavor-universal and diagonal magnetic moments for all three generation of neutrinos. This limit is stronger than the latest bounds from XENONnT and LUX-ZEPLIN experiments and comparable with those from stellar cooling considerations.

Neutrino magnetic moment portal and supernovae: New constraints and multimessenger opportunities

Vedran Brdar et al.

Summary: In this study, we examine the interaction of gauge singlet fermions-sterile neutrinos with Standard Model particles through the transition magnetic moment portal. We find that the nonobservation of active neutrinos and photons from sterile neutrino decay associated with SN1987A provides the strongest constraints on magnetic-moment-coupled sterile neutrinos with masses in the range of 0.1-100 MeV. Additionally, we investigate the diffuse photon and neutrino fluxes produced in the decay of magnetic-moment coupled sterile neutrinos from all past supernova explosions and find the strongest constraints to date for sterile neutrino masses in the range of 1-100 keV.

The neutrino magnetic moment portal: cosmology, astrophysics, and direct detection

Vedran Brdar et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the physics of neutrino magnetic moments, particularly in scenarios where right-handed or sterile neutrinos are heavier than left-handed Standard Model neutrinos. Strong exclusion limits on the active-to-sterile neutrino transition magnetic moment are derived based on data from various sources and experiments. Complementary constraints from astrophysics and cosmology are also investigated, along with a thorough analysis of Big Bang nucleosynthesis.

Dynamical screening effects on big bang nucleosynthesis

Eunseok Hwang et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamic screening effects of moving ions on big bang nucleosynthesis were explored, with findings indicating significant suppression of these effects during the BBN epoch due to the low density of background plasma components. The comparison with thermonuclear reaction rates for solar fusion was conducted to analyze the impact of dynamic screening effects, with discussions on potential expansion of the study to other astrophysical scenarios in the future.

Enhancement of lithium in red clump stars by the additional energy loss induced by new physics

Kanji Mori et al.

Summary: Recent studies have found that most red giants show a decrease in surface lithium abundance as stars evolve, but red clump stars have unexpectedly high lithium abundances. To explain this discrepancy, additional energy loss channels beyond the Standard Model are considered, affecting the production of Be-7 and leading to higher lithium abundances in certain stars.
