Predicting spatial distribution of stable isotopes in precipitation by classical geostatistical- and machine learning methods

Summary: Stable isotopes of precipitation are important tracers in various fields. This study compared the performance of different interpolation techniques in predicting the spatial distribution of precipitation stable isotopes. Regression kriging and machine learning methods such as random forest were used for interpolation. Evaluation metrics such as MSE and KGE were employed to assess the performance of the models. The results showed that the combined random forest model with regression techniques produced accurate estimations, with the best variant outperforming regression kriging by 7.5% in terms of an error metric (KGE). Machine learning methods also showed higher prediction accuracy with fewer input data.

Machine learning predictions of nitrate in groundwater used for drinking supply in the conterminous United States

A comparative analysis on groundwater vulnerability models-fuzzy DRASTIC and fuzzy DRASTIC-L

The groundwater resource system in this area is found to be in a critical state of high vulnerability based on sustainability indicators analysis.
