Single-Site Occupancy of Eu2+ in Multiple Cations Enables Efficient Ultra-Broadband Visible to Near-Infrared Luminescence

Zuobin Tang et al.

Summary: This work presents a divalent europium-doped Ba3GeO4Br2 phosphor with a high photoluminescence quantum yield of 48.8% and an ultra-broad emission range from 500 to 1100 nm. By embedding alumina crucible in high purity graphite crucible, the conversion of Eu3+ into Eu2+ during solid-state sintering is facilitated. Experimental results, including theoretical calculations, structural refinement, and spectral analysis, confirm that the visible to NIR emission in Ba3GeO4Br2:Eu2+ originates from the distorted Ba3O(3)Br(4) polyhedra occupied by Eu2+ ions in the lattice. The as-prepared phosphor-converted light-emitting diode device demonstrates excellent tissue penetration and NIR imaging performance, showing promising application prospects in spectral detection and food quality testing.

Facile Microwave Synthesis of a Narrow-Band Green-Emitting Phosphor Cs3MnBr5 and the Effect of Anion Substitution on Its Luminescence Properties

Yingfang Tao et al.

Summary: A new Cs3MnBr5 phosphor with bright blue light excitation and narrow band green emission has been successfully synthesized. The influence of different coordination on the luminescence properties of the phosphor was studied by substituting Br- ions with Cl- ions. It was found that the emission maxima of Mn2+ remained almost unchanged when Cl- ions were incorporated, while the emission intensity of Mn2+ decreased with increasing Cl- content. Moreover, the lifetime of Mn2+ was affected differently by the incorporation of Cl- ions at different temperatures.

Environmental-Friendly Cs3MnxZn(1-x)Br5@PS Films Used for Wide Color Gamut Backlight Displays

Wenya Chen et al.

Summary: In recent years, all-inorganic metal lead halide cesium perovskites have shown excellent luminescence performance in wide color gamut backlight displays. However, the leakage of Pb2+ due to the unstable structure of cesium perovskites poses a serious threat to human health. This study successfully prepared Zn-doped Cs3MnBr5 metal halides, which demonstrated highly efficient green emission and excellent stability. Encapsulating the metal halides in a polymer further improved their water, acid, daylight, and blue light stabilities. The designed backlight display device based on these metal halides achieved a color gamut that surpassed the NTSC 1953 standard, showing great potential for non-toxic, low-cost, and high-performance liquid crystal displays.
