2D/3D Hybrid Cs2AgBiBr6 Double Perovskite Solar Cells: Improved Energy Level Alignment for Higher Contact-Selectivity and Large Open Circuit Voltage

Maximilian T. Sirtl et al.

Summary: The efficiency of lead-free halide perovskite solar cells based on Cs2AgBiBr6 has been limited to less than 3% since 2017 due to factors such as low electron diffusion length and poor selectivity of the contacts. In this study, 2D/3D hybrid double perovskites using phenethyl ammonium were introduced for the first time, resulting in a 10% improvement in efficiency compared to the 3D reference. This improvement is mainly attributed to higher V-OC values and improved recombination behavior and selectivity at the interface.

Hydrogenated Cs2AgBiBr6 for significantly improved efficiency of lead-free inorganic double perovskite solar cell

Zeyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The authors report hydrogenated lead-free inorganic perovskite solar cells with enhanced power conversion efficiency. By using a hydrogenation method, the bandgap of Cs2AgBiBr6 films could be tunable from 2.18 eV to 1.64 eV, resulting in improved photoelectric conversion efficiency of the solar cells.

Chlorophyll Derivative-Sensitized TiO2 Electron Transport Layer for Record Efficiency of Cs2AgBiBr6 Double Perovskite Solar Cells

Baoning Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a carboxy-chlorophyll derivative (C-Chl) was introduced as a sensitizer to enhance the performance of Cs2AgBiBr6-based perovskite solar cells. The optimized device achieved a significantly improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) exceeding 3% for the first time, with enhanced short-circuit current density and improved stability. The introduction of C-Chl was found to reduce defects, accelerate electron extraction, and suppress charge recombination at the interface, leading to the enhanced overall performance of the solar cells.

Design of High-Performance Lead-Free Quaternary Antiperovskites for Photovoltaics via Ion Type Inversion and Anion Ordering

Dan Han et al.

Summary: The emergence of halide double perovskites has opened up new possibilities for lead-free and stable photovoltaic absorbers. However, most halide double perovskites possess large band gaps or transitions that are not ideal for solar cell applications. By designing and screening pnictogen-based quaternary antiperovskites, researchers have identified five stable compounds with promising properties for photovoltaic applications, showing potential for efficiencies exceeding 29%, comparable to or higher than lead-based perovskites.

Organic Dye/Cs2AgBiBr6 Double Perovskite Heterojunction Solar Cells

Baoning Wang et al.

Summary: The photovoltaic performance of Cs2AgBiBr6 perovskite was improved by introducing indoline dyes, leading to higher power conversion efficiencies and short-circuit current densities in the hybrid cells. The double perovskite functioned as a p-type interlayer to enhance overall performance.
