Water leaching of roasted vanadium slag: Desiliconization and precipitation of ammonium vanadate from vanadium solution

Longjie Liu et al.

Summary: This research investigated the water leaching of roasted vanadium slag and studied the effects of leaching parameters on the process. It also explored the purification of the vanadium solution obtained from the leaching process. The results showed that vanadium can be effectively recovered from the slag with a high recovery efficiency of 96.9% under optimal leaching conditions. Additionally, silicon can be precipitated to low levels without significant vanadium loss during solution purification, and the precipitation of ammonium vanadate achieved a high efficiency of >99%.

High efficient vanadium extraction from vanadium slag using an enhanced acid leaching-coprecipitation process

Pengcheng Hu et al.

Summary: In this research, a two-stage leaching process was proposed to extract vanadium efficiently from the by-product of vanadium titanium magnetite BOF steelmaking process, vanadium slag (VS). The total leaching efficiency of vanadium can reach as high as 98.52% by sodium roasting-water leaching for VS and sulfuric acid leaching for water leaching residue (WLR). The mechanism analysis indicates that the structures of wrapping phases and spinel can be effectively destroyed by acid leaching, releasing vanadium in WLR.

Recovery of titanium and vanadium from titanium-vanadium slag obtained by direct reduction of titanomagnetite concentrates

Xue-Jie Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated a process of NaOH molten salt roasting-water leaching to treat titanium-vanadium slag obtained by direct reduction of titanomagnetite concentrates. The results showed that anosovite and clinopyroxene are the major phases of the slag. Under the optimal roasting conditions, titanium and vanadium conversions were 96.5% and 93.0%, respectively.

Recycling of Vanadium-Containing BOF Slag with Agitation and Heap Leaching

Denis Ordinartsev et al.

Summary: This article introduces a high-efficiency method for recycling vanadium-containing BOF slag using heap leaching with sulfuric acid. The leaching degrees of vanadium were 98.5% by agitation leaching and 71% by leaching in a percolator column. The diffusion through the slag boundary layer is a limiting factor for vanadium leaching efficiency. The experiment also investigated the influence of pause duration between irrigations. The results showed that the heap leaching process was selective, with higher leaching degree of vanadium compared to other slag components, except for aluminum.

Paul S. Bagus et al.

Summary: This paper presents a rigorous ab initio treatment of the XPS features in Fe2O3, providing strong evidence that many-body effects are essential for a correct description of the ionic states. The study also found that a large fraction of the Fe 2p XPS intensity is contained in a relatively small binding energy range.

Multistage suspension roasting of refractory stone coal: Enhanced extraction based on decarburization and vanadium oxidation

Shuai Yuan et al.

Summary: An innovative multistage suspension roasting technology is proposed for vanadium leaching from stone coal. The results show that carbon removal of 53.13% is achieved in the first-stage roasting, accompanied by disruption of the vanadium-bearing mica lattice and production of dehydrogenated mica through the release of hydroxyl groups and vanadium. In the second-stage roasting, carbon is almost completely removed, and the mica structure is further destroyed and partially converted to feldspar. Under optimal conditions, the vanadium leaching rate increases from 20% using conventional technology to 51.42% using the presented technology.

Extraction of vanadium from low-vanadium grade magnetite concentrate pellets with sodium salt

Shuhui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focused on extracting vanadium from low-vanadium grade magnetite concentrate pellets using sodium salt, achieving a high extraction rate under optimal conditions. The research found that part of trivalent vanadium was not completely oxidized during the sodium salt roasting process. By optimizing the sodium salt roasting parameters, the production efficiency of vanadium extraction can be significantly improved.

Zhi-Yu Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, highly effective two-dimensional vanadium nanosheets (V-NS) were successfully prepared via a wet chemical ball milling method, significantly improving the hydrogen storage performance of MgH2. The MgH2 composite with 7% V-NS started releasing hydrogen at lower temperatures and released a significant amount of hydrogen within 10 minutes. Additionally, metallic vanadium as a catalytic unit facilitated the dehydrogenation and hydrogen absorption reactions of MgH2.
