Trion clustering structure and binding energy in two-dimensional semiconductor materials: Faddeev equations approach

K. Mohseni et al.

Summary: In this paper, we present a basic formalism for studying trions in two-dimensional semiconductor layered materials. We solve the trion Faddeev coupled integral equations using two different regularization methods to overcome the repulsive electron-electron interaction. The results show consistent trion energy for the MoS2 layer and provide insights into the trion structure for different potentials.

Excitation Spectrum and Superfluid Gap of an Ultracold Fermi Gas

Hauke Biss et al.

Summary: In this work, we measured the excitation spectrum of strongly interacting ultracold Fermi gases using Bragg spectroscopy. The study revealed the smooth transformation from a bosonic to a fermionic superfluid in the BEC-BCS crossover. The results are in excellent agreement with previous experiments and calculations, especially when particle-hole correlations are taken into account.

Density-induced BCS-Bose evolution in gated two-dimensional superconductors: The role of the interaction range in the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition

Tingting Shi et al.

Summary: This study discusses the evolution from BCS superconductivity to Bose superconductivity in two-dimensional gated superconductors and emphasizes the importance of interaction range in the BKT transition. The density dependence of critical temperature, superfluid density, order parameter modulus, chemical potential, and pair size is investigated. The study finds that including classical and quantum phase fluctuations, as well as finite-ranged interactions, is crucial to explain the non-monotonic behavior of critical temperature vs. carrier density and to ensure the upper limit of critical temperature in 2D superconductors.

Observation of Cooper pairs in a mesoscopic two-dimensional Fermi gas

Marvin Holten et al.

Summary: In this article, researchers successfully observed Cooper pairs directly in a mesoscopic two-dimensional Fermi gas. Using an imaging scheme, they extracted the full in situ momentum distribution of a strongly interacting Fermi gas with single-particle and spin resolution. They found Cooper pair correlations at the Fermi surface and observed that increasing attractive interactions led to the gradual formation of deeply bound molecules that broke up the Fermi surface.

Interactions between Fermi polarons in monolayer WS2

Jack B. Muir et al.

Summary: Researchers introduced mobile exciton impurities into a two-dimensional electron gas and conducted experiments on monolayer WS2 using multi-dimensional coherent spectroscopy. They found that at low electron doping densities, the dominant interactions occur between polaron states dressed by the same Fermi sea. Additionally, they discovered a bipolaron bound state with remarkably large binding energy involving excitons in different valleys cooperatively bound to the same electron.

Role of the effective range in the density-induced BEC-BCS crossover

Hiroyuki Tajima et al.

Summary: This study elucidates the role of effective range in the crossover regime from Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) to Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) in two-component fermions system. Unlike ultracold Fermi gases, the effective range plays an important role in the density-induced BEC-BCS crossover and affects the crossover phenomena.

Tunable strongly coupled superconductivity in magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene

Jeong Min Park et al.

Summary: Moire superlattices have become a platform for studying correlated physics and superconductivity with unprecedented tunability. This study on magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene reveals a better tunability of electronic structure and superconducting properties than magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene, with implications for the understanding of strongly coupled superconductivity. The results suggest that the system can be electrically tuned close to the crossover to a two-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate, indicating the potential for revolutionizing applications of superconductivity.

Gate-controlled BCS-BEC crossover in a two-dimensional superconductor

Yuji Nakagawa et al.

Summary: The study reports the crossover from the BCS limit to the BEC limit in a two-dimensional superconductor by varying carrier density. The phase diagram, established by simultaneous measurements of resistivity and tunneling spectra, shows a pseudogap phase in the low-doping regime. Results indicate that gate-doped semiconductor provides an ideal platform for the BCS-BEC crossover in two dimensions.

Observation of superfluidity in a strongly correlated two-dimensional Fermi gas

Lennart Sobirey et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the presence of superfluidity in an ultracold 2D Fermi gas by observing no dissipation below a critical velocity v(c) when moving a periodic potential through the system. The researchers found a maximum in the crossover regime between bosonic and fermionic superfluidity as they measured v(c) as a function of interaction strength. The measurements enable systematic studies of the influence of reduced dimensionality on fermionic superfluidity.

Three-body crossover from a Cooper triple to a bound trimer state in three-component Fermi gases near a triatomic resonance

Hiroyuki Tajima et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation on a three-component Fermi gas near a triatomic resonance reveals competition between pair and triple formations due to Fermi surface effects. Ground-state phase diagram shows transition from a Cooper pair to Cooper triple state and crossover to tightly bound trimer state at negative scattering lengths. Prediction is made that the threshold scattering length for three-body states can be shifted towards the weak-coupling side due to emergence of Cooper triples.

Finite-range effects in the unitary Fermi polaron

Renato Pessoa et al.

Summary: The properties of polarons in an ultracold Fermi gas were studied using Quantum Monte Carlo techniques and both zero-range and square-well potential models. The polaron effective mass, binding energy, and effective coupling were computed, with the latter obtained using Landau-Pomeranchuk's weakly interacting quasiparticle model. The contact parameter was estimated by fitting the pair distribution function of atoms in different spin states.

Summary: In this study, the ground-state properties of two-component repulsive Fermi gases in two dimensions were investigated using fixed-node diffusion Monte Carlo simulations. The energy per particle, equation of state, and magnetic susceptibility were analyzed for different parameters, revealing the characteristics of polarons and the stability of the ferromagnetic phase. Further analysis is needed to understand the effects of the fixed-node constraint on the results.

Finite-range effects in the two-dimensional repulsive Fermi polaron

Raul Bombin et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the repulsive Fermi polaron in a two-component, two-dimensional system of fermionic atoms, investigating properties such as polaron energy, quasiparticle residue, and effective mass using the diffusion Monte Carlo method. The results highlight the importance of considering the effective range and scattering length to reproduce experimental results, as well as the establishment of universality through different model potentials for the interaction between the Fermi sea and the impurity. This underscores the significance of quantum fluctuations and beyond mean-field effects in accurately describing the Fermi polaron problem.

Polaron Problems in Ultracold Atoms: Role of a Fermi Sea across Different Spatial Dimensions and Quantum Fluctuations of a Bose Medium

Hiroyuki Tajima et al.

Summary: The concept of polaron is introduced in the context of electrons in ionic lattices to help understand the behavior of quantum impurities interacting with a many-body background. The impact of impurities on medium particles is discussed through feedback effects from polarons, which can be observed in ultracold quantum gas experiments. By studying Fermi and Bose polarons, the modifications of the medium and the behavior of the spectral function at finite temperature are analyzed, providing insights into the transition from attractive polarons to molecules in three dimensions.
