Insight into the role of iron in platinum-based bimetallic catalysts for selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde

Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of PtxFey-Al2O3 bimetallic catalysts were prepared, and the introduction of Fe significantly modified the properties of Pt, enhancing the selectivity of C=O hydrogenation. Among them, Pt3Fe-Al2O3 exhibited the best catalytic performance, with excellent reusability and relatively stable structure.

Ir nanoclusters confined within hollow MIL-101(Fe) for selective hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehyde

Qinglin Liu et al.

Summary: The selective hydrogenation of alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehyde to unsaturated alcohol is a significant transformation. In this study, iridium nanoclusters confined within hollow MIL-101(Fe) exhibited high reaction activity and selectivity for cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation. The hollow structure of MIL-101(Fe) facilitated fast reactant transport and improved catalyst recyclability. Furthermore, the interactions between Ir nanoclusters and MIL-101(Fe) as well as the Lewis acid sites in MIL-101(Fe) contributed to the high selectivity of the desired product.

Solid Lewis acid-base pair catalysts constructed by regulations on defects of UiO-66 for the catalytic hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde

Hailong Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, highly-defective UiO-66 catalysts were synthesized and exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the hydrogenation of CALD to CALH. UiO-66-0.3 showed the highest reaction rate constant and best catalytic results. A proposed acid-base synergistic catalysis mechanism was presented, and the defective UiO-66 demonstrated good recyclability.
