A Review of Phytic Acid Sources, Obtention, and Applications

Ana Paula Marinho Bloot et al.

Summary: Phytic acid (PA) is a substance extracted from oilseeds, legumes, cereals, nuts, and pollen, and purified through heating and/or stirring with acid solutions. It has beneficial health and physiological effects due to its antioxidant activity and ability to chelate Fe3+ ions. Recent studies have also shown its efficacy as a foodborne pathogens inhibitor.

Determination of phosphorus compounds in plant tissues: from colourimetry to advanced instrumental analytical chemistry

Dorota Wieczorek et al.

Summary: Although there are effective methods and techniques to determine phosphorus in plant tissues, the complex chemical composition of the tissues makes it difficult to find a one-size-fits-all solution. Combined methods have been successful in isolating and detecting phosphorus analytes in a single step analytical procedure. Expensive imaging techniques have also shown promise in improving detection sensitivity. Phosphorus-31 NMR is considered the most universal tool for qualitative and quantitative determination of various chemical forms of plant phosphorus.

In vitro biosynthesis of ATP from adenosine and polyphosphate

Chuanqi Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, an in vitro multi-enzyme cascade system was established for the regeneration and production of ATP, utilizing adenosine and polyP as key substrates. Two functionally distinct PPKs were selected for high rates of ATP production, with Sulfurovum lithotrophicum PPK exhibiting excellent activity and stability over a wide pH range. After optimizing the reaction conditions, ATP yields as high as 76.0% were achieved with different initial adenosine concentrations, demonstrating the feasibility and efficiency of the system.
