Integrating NLP and context-free grammar for complex rule interpretation towards automated compliance checking

Yu-Cheng Zhou et al.

Summary: Automated rule checking (ARC) is expected to greatly enhance the efficiency and compliance of design in the construction industry. This research proposes a novel generalized rule interpretation framework that combines natural language processing (NLP) and context-free grammar (CFG) to parse regulatory text and generate computable checking rules. Experimental results demonstrate that the method outperforms existing approaches and is capable of handling complex multi-requirement sentences.

XLS-R: Self-supervised Cross-lingual Speech Representation Learning at Scale

Arun Babu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces XLS-R, a large-scale model for cross-lingual speech representation learning based on wav2vec 2.0. The model is trained on a massive amount of publicly available speech audio data, and achieves state-of-the-art performance on various speech processing tasks. The study also shows that with sufficient model size, cross-lingual pretraining can be as effective as English-only pretraining.
