N-doped CNT as electron transport promoter by bridging CoP and carbon cloth toward enhanced alkaline hydrogen evolution

Hairui Cai et al.

Summary: The CoP/N-CNT/CC electro-catalyst was prepared by cladding CoP nanosheets on a 3D nanostructured current collector (N-CNT/CC). Experimental results show that CoP acts as the dominant active center directly participating in HER, while N-CNTs act as electron transport promoters. The introduction of N-CNT accelerates electron transport, increases electrochemical active surface area, and exposes more CoP active sites.

Simultaneous electrochemical degradation of tetracycline and metronidazole through a high-efficiency and low-energy-consumption advanced oxidation process

Luyao Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ti3+ and oxygen vacancies self-doped TiO2-x nanotube array electrodes were used to investigate the simultaneous degradation of antibiotics tetracycline and metronidazole in water. The results showed that the nanotube arrays prepared with a reduction time of 10 minutes exhibited the best degradation performance. When a mixed solution of tetracycline and metronidazole was simultaneously degraded, the removal rate reached 100% within 3 hours, with a chemical oxygen demand removal rate of 79.1%. The energy consumption was significantly reduced compared to the degradation of a single substance, and the current utilization rate of the electrochemical degradation system was also significantly improved, with a specific energy consumption of 85.78 kWh kg-1 and an average current efficiency of 20.2%.

Photo-Fenton degradation of tetracycline over Z-scheme Fe-g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 heterojunctions: Mechanism insight, degradation pathways and DFT calculation

Caihua Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Fe-g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 Z-scheme heterojunction was elaborately designed for the degradation of tetracycline (TC). The performance of H2O2 decomposition in the Z-scheme heterojunction was improved by the doping of iron, enhancing the transportability of photogenerated electrons and facilitating the spread of radicals. The study also found that O-1(2) and center dot O-2- were the main active species participating in the degradation process, according to efficacy analyses and experimental results.

Lifa Ge et al.

Summary: The MgNCN/MgO nanocomposites synthesized in this study exhibited excellent antibiotic degradation capability within a wide pH range without the need for external energy input. The activation of H2O2 by Mg-N coordination in the nanocomposites produced singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radicals, leading to the degradation of antibiotics. This work provides a novel approach for designing transition-metal-free catalysts for nonradical activation of H2O2.
