Asymmetric Catalytic Rearrangements with α-Diazocarbonyl Compounds

Shunxi Dong et al.

Summary: Alpha-diazocarbonyl compounds can undergo various organic transformations under the influence of metal catalysts, with rearrangement processes providing a straightforward and efficient method to access one-carbon extension products or heteroatom-containing molecules. Enantioselective control in these reactions is challenging due to multistep transformations and the influence of intermediate spatial arrangement on regio- and enantioselectivity. Chiral catalysts play a crucial role in achieving stereochemical outcomes in these rearrangement reactions.

Aggregation-Induced Polarization (AIP): Optical Rotation Amplification and Adjustment of Chiral Aggregates of Folding Oligomers and Polymers

Yao Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, the phenomenon of aggregation-induced polarization (AIP) was observed, which showed amplification and adjustment of optical rotation. The relationship between optical rotations of chiral aggregates of multilayered chiral folding oligomers and polymers with water content in THF was investigated. New multilayered chiral oligomers were synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The AIP work provides a new tool to determine chiral aggregates, especially for those with no emission, and complements AIE-based CPL by offering enhanced polarized lights with specific wavelengths.

Aggregation-induced polarization (AIP) of derivatives of BINOL and BINAP

Yao Tang et al.

Summary: The relationship between optical rotations of small chiral molecules with water content in THF has been established. The aggregation co-solvent systems can result in optical rotation amplification and adjustment, termed aggregation-induced polarization (AIP). AIP can be used as a new tool to determine molecular aggregation, especially for those that cannot display aggregation-induced emission (AIE). It can also serve as a new transmission tool providing adjusting right- or left-hand polarized lights of a series of individual wavelengths. This work is important for research in asymmetric synthesis and catalysts using chiral aggregates, and it has applications in chemical and materials sciences.
