Ionic liquid crystal-mediated preparation of reduced graphene oxide under microwave irradiation

R. Mangaiyarkarasi et al.

Summary: This study utilizes the dielectric properties of ionic liquid crystals (ILCs) to achieve rapid microwave heating of graphite and prepare nanomaterial reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Compared to RGO samples reduced in the presence of ionic liquid (IL) or without ILC, the presence of ILCs leads to a higher reduction percentage in the oxygen content of RGO samples.

Responses of Defect-Rich Zr-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks toward NH3 Adsorption

Tatchamapan Yoskamtorn et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structural responses of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to external stimuli such as the inclusion of guest molecules and temperature/pressure, highlighting the paramount influence of functional linkers on NH3 affinity and the delicate control of material properties at the molecular level. Neutron and synchrotron diffractions, along with Rietveld refinement and density functional theory calculations, were used to elucidate the responsive adsorption behaviors of defect-rich Zr-based MOFs upon the progressive incorporation of ammonia and variable temperature.

CoaSmbOx Catalyst with Excellent Catalytic Performance for NH3 Decomposition

Cui-Ping Wu et al.

Summary: Recent research has shown that transition metal-rare earth oxide catalysts can catalyze ammonia decomposition, but many have limitations such as poor activity and unclear active species. This study introduces CoaSmbOx catalysts with good dispersion and catalytic performance, with TEM and SEM images confirming their high dispersion and morphology. In-situ testing revealed the interaction between cobalt oxide and samarium oxide affecting the redox properties, with Co-0 identified as the active species and samarium aiding NH3 adsorption. The study successfully obtained a high activity and stable CoaSmbOx catalyst, establishing a structure-function relationship by exploring active species in the reaction process.
