Mechanisms of neuronal cell death in ischemic stroke and their therapeutic implications

Qing-zhang Tuo et al.

Summary: Ischemic stroke caused by arterial occlusion is a common type of stroke that involves multiple cell death pathways such as apoptosis, necroptosis, and autophagy. Understanding these pathways may reveal new neuroprotective interventions for ischemic stroke.

Metabolomics-based study of the potential interventional effects of Xiao-Xu-Ming Decoction on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion rats

Ziqian Wu et al.

Summary: Our study aimed to investigate the interventional effects of XXMD on a rat model of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. XXXD treatment improved neurological deficits and reduced cerebral infarct areas. Pathological staining showed improvements in Nissl bodies, NeuN and MCT2 expression, and decreased TUNEL expression. NMR analysis revealed varying improvements in lactate, acetate, NAA, glutamate, and GABA levels in different brain regions.

Mechanism of Huoxue Tongluo Decoction in treatment of erectile dysfunction caused by ischemic stroke based on network pharmacology

Ji-sheng Wang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the therapeutic effect of Huoxue Tongluo Decoction on erectile dysfunction caused by ischemic stroke through network pharmacology and experimental studies. The results showed that the decoction improved erectile function by regulating the expression levels of TNF, eNOS, and VEGF, as well as enhancing the structural integrity of the cavernous tissue.

Pretreatment of Indobufen and Aspirin and their Combinations with Clopidogrel or Ticagrelor Alleviates Inflammasome Mediated Pyroptosis Via Inhibiting NF-kappa B/NLRP3 Pathway in Ischemic Stroke

Fengyang Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the combination of indobufen or aspirin with clopidogrel or ticagrelor as pretreatment shows protective effects against cerebral ischemic injury by inhibiting the NF-kappa B/NLRP3 pathway, reducing inflammatory response, and decreasing infarct size, brain edema, LDH release, and neurological impairment. The combination also reduces inflammasome mediated pyroptosis in both in vivo and in vitro models, suggesting a potential clinical strategy for treating ischemia/reperfusion-induced injury.

Xuesaitong exerts long-term neuroprotection for stroke recovery by inhibiting the ROCKII pathway, in vitro and in vivo

Dongrui Zhou et al.

Summary: XST provides long-term neuroprotection by inhibiting Nogo-A and the ROCKII pathway in rats with stroke and SH-SY5Y cells. Experimental results show that XST reduces neurologic dysfunction and pathological damage, promotes synaptic regeneration, and inhibits Nogo-A and the ROCKII pathway.

Arctium lappa L. roots ameliorates cerebral ischemia through inhibiting neuronal apoptosis and suppressing AMPK/mTOR-mediated autophagy

Yue Yang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Arctium lappa L. roots protect against cerebral ischemia by inhibiting apoptosis and AMPK/mTOR-mediated autophagy in in vitro and in vivo, providing a theoretical basis for the development of CQAs in Arctium lappa L. roots as neuroprotective drugs for the prevention and treatment of ischemic stroke.

AMPK-mTOR Signaling and Cellular Adaptations in Hypoxia

Yoomi Chun et al.

Summary: Cellular energy is primarily generated through the oxidative degradation of nutrients and mitochondrial respiration, with oxygen participating in the electron transport chain. Oxygen supply plays a crucial role in intracellular bioenergetics. Hypoxia leads to nutrient starvation, integrating hypoxic signaling and nutrient signaling at the cellular level.
