The Effects of Intravenous Fluid Viscosity on the Accuracy of Intravenous Infusion Flow Regulators

Eunji Ko et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of viscosity on the flow rate of different IV fluids when using IIFRs. The results showed that the flow rate of colloids was significantly influenced by the IIFR scale, suggesting caution should be taken when using IIFRs for delivering colloids.

Risk-of-bias VISualization (robvis): An R package and Shiny web app for visualizing risk-of-bias assessments

Luke A. McGuinness et al.

Summary: Despite the availability of numerous software options for evidence synthesis, there is currently no universal tool for generating figures to display and explore risk-of-bias assessments. However, tools such as the R programming environment and Shiny have made it easy to create new tools for producing evidence syntheses. The new tool robvis facilitates the rapid production of publication-quality risk-of-bias assessment figures and is available as an R package and web app.

Simulation study on flow rate accuracy of infusion pumps in vibration conditions during emergency patient transport

Kwan Young Hong et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the flow rate accuracy of various infusion pumps under different clinical vibration conditions. While all pumps performed well in resting state and mild vibration, syringe pumps showed increased flow rates and accidental bolus occurrence in moderate and extreme vibrations, respectively, while peristaltic pumps remained stable throughout. The newly developed cylinder pump maintained stable performance in all vibration environments.
