Lightning to earthed structures: Striking distance variation with stroke polarity, structure geometry and altitude based on a theoretical approach

Summary: The paper quantifies the reduction of striking distance and attractive radius for positive lightning strokes, and their lower sensitivity to structure height except for very tall structures. Recent lightning data allows for new comparisons of this modeling with field data, showing that higher altitude environments result in an increased risk of direct lightning strikes for structures.
