Enhancement of Cr(VI) reduction by polyaniline nanorod-modified cathode in flow-through electrode system

Yang Wang et al.

Summary: Fabricating polyaniline nanorod forests-modified carbon fiber felt has been shown to enhance the reduction of Cr(VI) and improve detoxification efficiency. The optimized CFF-PANI cathode with a larger BET and electrochemical surface area exhibited higher Cr(VI) removal and lower specific energy consumption compared to the CFF cathode. Additionally, operating the FES system at 0.8 V resulted in the lowest specific energy consumption and maintained high energy efficiency for Cr(VI) reduction.

Fabrication of 3D self-supported MoS2-Co-P/nickel foam electrode for adsorption-electrochemical removal of Cr(VI)

Lidong Shen et al.

Summary: In this study, a self-supported MoS2-Co-P/nickel foam (NF) electrode was developed for the efficient removal of Cr(VI) in aqueous medium. The modified electrode exhibited a high removal efficiency (96.9%) at pH 3.0, current of 0.128 mA, and voltage of 2.5 V. The synergistic promotion of Co, P, and MoS2 significantly enhanced the catalytic performance of the electrode, resulting in a 127.5-fold improvement in Cr(VI) reduction efficiency compared to pure NF.
