3-D Positioning Method for Anonymous UAV Based on Bistatic Polarized MIMO Radar

Fangqing Wen et al.

Summary: This article proposes a novel framework for the three-dimensional (3-D) positioning of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using a bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar to measure the two-dimensional (2-D) angle-of-departure (2D-AoD) and 2D-AoA. The proposed framework is computationally friendly and capable of positioning anonymous UAVs.

Compressive Sampling Framework for 2D-DOA and Polarization Estimation in mmWave Polarized Massive MIMO Systems

Fangqing Wen et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a compressive sampling framework for two-dimensional DOA and polarization estimation in mmWave polarized massive MIMO systems. The proposed approach reduces data volume through a reduced-dimension matrix and computes the signal subspace via eigendecomposition. It also utilizes rotational invariance characteristic to form a normalized polarization steering vector and applies the Poynting vector and least squares techniques for 2D-DOA and polarization estimation.

Enhanced and Generalized Coprime Array for Direction of Arrival Estimation

Junpeng Shi et al.

Summary: Due to the generation of difference coarrays, nonuniform linear arrays have attracted great interest in direction of arrival estimation. In this article, the authors propose a generic-coarray concept to reveal the impacts of variable ranges and element spacing on uniform degrees of freedom (uDOFs), and derive the sufficient condition for connected coarrays. They also introduce an enhanced and generalized coprime array (EGCA) structure from the generic-coarray perspective. Through coarray extension and hole filling, EGCA possesses more uDOFs compared to previous coprime arrays and provides the minimum number of sensor pairs with small separation.

A DOA Estimation Method for UCA Based on Orthogonal Subspace Compensation

Ping Li et al.

Summary: The letter addresses the issue of 2-D direction of arrival (DOA) estimation using uniform circular array (UCA). It proposes a 2-D compensation method that utilizes UCA-ESPRIT algorithm for biased DOA estimation and eigenvalue decomposition for noise subspace extraction. The method outperforms virtual array transformation methods in estimation accuracy and computational efficiency, as confirmed by multiple simulation experiments.
