Total Brain Volumetric Measures and Schizophrenia Risk: A Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study

Dan Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the causal associations between total brain volumetric measures (TBVMs) and the risk of schizophrenia using Mendelian randomization. The results showed that alterations in TBVMs do not have a direct causal effect on the risk of schizophrenia.

Assessing the Association between Important Dietary Habits and Osteoporosis: A Genetic Correlation and Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study

Jiawen Xu et al.

Summary: Osteoporosis (OP) is the most common bone disease. This study explored the relationship between OP and dietary habits using a large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS). The analysis identified seven candidate dietary habits that showed genetic associations with OP, and found a causal relationship between OP and certain dietary habits such as butter consumption, decaffeinated coffee consumption, overall processed meat intake, monthly alcohol consumption, and daily servings of raw vegetables.

Bone Mineral Density Measurements and Association With Brain Structure and Cognitive Function The Framingham Offspring Cohort

Summary: In the young old, higher bone mineral density (BMD) is associated with less white matter hyperintensity burden and better cognitive performance in specific domains, indicating that lifetime estrogen exposure may modulate the degree of cumulative vascular brain injury independent of cerebrovascular risk factors.

Causal Associations of Anthropometric Measurements With Fracture Risk and Bone Mineral Density: A Mendelian Randomization Study

Baoshan Ma et al.

Summary: The study investigated causal relationships between anthropometric measurements and bone mineral density (BMD) or fracture risk using Mendelian randomization (MR) methods. The results showed that an increase in height was associated with higher fracture risk and lower estimated BMD, while BMI was only causally associated with BMD. Other anthropometric measurements like WHR, HC, and WC adjusted for BMI were not found to be related to fracture occurrence or BMD.
