Screening and quantification of 146 veterinary drug residues in beef and chicken using QuEChERS combined with high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole orbitrap mass spectrometry

Hong Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an integrated high-throughput screening and quantification method for multi-class veterinary drug residues using HPLC-Q-Orbitrap mass spectrometry. A qualitative screening mass database of 171 veterinary drugs was created, improving the accuracy and scope of screening. The developed quantification method for 146 veterinary drug residues showed good linearity, with correlation coefficients of 0.9921-0.9994. The proposed method demonstrated reliability for the simultaneous analysis of multi-class veterinary drugs and is of significance in expanding the screening scope and improving quantitative analysis efficiency.

Use of high-resolution mass spectrometry for veterinary drug multi-residue analysis

Esmer Jongedijk et al.

Summary: This article reviews the applicability of high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) techniques for the analysis of veterinary medicinal products and hormones in food. Different measurement and data evaluation strategies are discussed, and it suggests that the implementation of HRMS can enable a shift from predefined scope methods to real risk-based monitoring for routine food and feed analysis.

Determination of selected glucocorticoids in healthy foods by ultra-performance convergence chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry

Guangyong Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, a method based on ultra-performance convergence chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPC2-MS/MS) was developed to detect 63 glucocorticoids in healthy foods. The method showed good linearity, low detection limits, and better selectivity and resolution compared to the traditional reverse-phase liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (RPLC-MS/MS) method. The study provides new technical support for assessing the risk of exposure to glucocorticoids in healthy foods.

Insights into glucocorticoid responses derived from omics studies

Mengyuan Kan et al.

Summary: Glucocorticoid drugs are widely used in the treatment of diseases, but there is still much to learn about their cell type-specific mechanisms and why patients respond differently. Recent studies have used genomics, transcriptomics, and other omics approaches to address these questions, but there are still knowledge gaps to be filled related to glucocorticoid action mechanisms.
