Conditions for walk-off soliton generation in a multimode fiber

Summary: Recent studies have shown that multimode solitons can evolve into stable single-mode solitons over hundreds of nonlinearity lengths. Femtosecond multimode solitons composed of non-degenerate modes have unique properties, with pulsewidth and energy depending on input coupling conditions and linear dispersive properties of the fiber rather than input pulsewidth. Controlling the generation of solitons in multimode photonic systems could enhance optical communication network performance.
