Postnatal developmental expression and localization of apelin and apelin receptor protein in the ovary and uterus of mice

Borgohain Anima et al.

Summary: Postnatal expression and localization of apelin and APJ were investigated in the ovary and uterus of mice. Uterine APJ levels were elevated at postnatal day (PND) 14 and PND 65, while ovarian APJ levels were elevated at PND 7, PND 14, and PND 65. Apelin expression in both ovary and uterus showed intense staining at PND 65 and PND 14. The results indicated that apelin and APJ are developmentally regulated in the ovary and uterus and have specific physiological roles in different compartments.

Phyto-Mediated Copper Oxide Nanoparticles for Antibacterial, Antioxidant and Photocatalytic Performances

Kenneth Ssekatawa et al.

Summary: The greatest challenge for current and future generations is antimicrobial resistance. This study examined the effectiveness of copper oxide nanoparticles synthesized from Camellia sinensis extract and Prunus africana bark extract against carbapenem-resistant bacteria. These nanoparticles showed potential as antimicrobial agents and also exhibited photocatalytic and antioxidant activities.

Anti-Apoptotic Effect of Apelin in Human Placenta: Studies on BeWo Cells and Villous Explants from Third-Trimester Human Pregnancy

Ewa Mlyczynska et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the antiapoptotic effect of apelin on trophoblast cells by regulating the expression of pro-survival and proapoptotic factors, as well as attenuating oxidative stress. This effect was mediated by the APJ receptor and specific signaling pathways like mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK1/2/MAP3/1) and protein kinase B (AKT), suggesting the potential role of apelin in placental development.

Expression and localization of apelin and its receptor in the testes of diabetic mice and its possible role in steroidogenesis

Milirani Das et al.

Summary: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) leads to testicular dysfunctions and decreased male fertility, with significant changes in the expression and signaling pathways of leptin and various adipokines in diabetic testes. This study investigated the localization and expression of apelin and APJ in diabetic mouse testes, showing increased levels of these proteins and reduced testosterone secretion in T1DM. Inhibition of apelin receptors may improve testicular steroidogenesis in T1DM.

Zeta potentials (ζ) of metal oxide nanoparticles: A meta-analysis of experimental data and a predictive neural networks modeling

Natalia Sizochenko et al.

Summary: Zeta potential is crucial for estimating the surface charge and stability of nanomaterials, with theoretical methods commonly used for safety assessments. Inconsistencies in data measurements pose challenges for predictive modeling, emphasizing the need for data curation. A structure-property relationship model can predict zeta potential values under different environmental conditions.
