Electrochemical oxidation of sulfamethoxazole by nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets composite PbO2 electrode: Kinetics and mechanism

Jieqi Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets were successfully combined into the PbO2 electrode using composite electrodeposition technology to create the NCNS-PbO2 electrode. The electrochemical degradation of sulfamethoxazole in aqueous solution by the NCNS-PbO2 electrode was studied, and the factors influencing the degradation of sulfamethoxazole were analyzed in detail. Under optimal conditions, the NCNS-PbO2 electrode showed better electrochemical performance than the PbO2 electrode, with a removal ratio of 99.8% for sulfamethoxazole and 60.7% for chemical oxygen demand after 120 minutes of treatment.

Fabrication of a Ti/PbO2 electrode with Sb doped SnO2 nanoflowers as the middle layer for the degradation of methylene blue, norfloxacin and p-dihydroxybenzene

Shuaishuai Man et al.

Summary: This study prepared a novel PbO2 electrode with a three-dimensional Sb-doped SnO2 nanoflowers interlayer with good conductivity on a titanium substrate using a hydrothermal method. The electrode exhibited higher active sites, stronger ·OH generation ability, and improved degradation performance for various organic compounds compared to traditional PbO2 anodes. Additionally, the 3D interlayer enhanced anode stability and safety, prolonging the lifetime significantly.

Preparation of nanosheet-based spherical Ti/SnO2-Sb electrode by in-situ hydrothermal method and its performance in the degradation of methylene blue

Songjian Deng et al.

Summary: The Ti/Sn Omega(2)-Sb anode prepared by the hydrothermal method showed a higher Oxygen Evolution Potential (2.09V), a smaller impedance (8.61 Omega), and a larger Electrochemical Active Surface Area compared to the control sample prepared by the traditional thermal decomposition method. Consequently, the removal rate of methylene blue reached 100% within 60 min with a reduction of total organic carbon content by 39.20%, highlighting the superior catalytic performance of the hydrothermal method in DSA for electrocatalytic oxidation.

Electrocatalytic activity of metal-doped SnO2 for the decomposition of aqueous contaminants: Ta-SnO2 vs. Sb-SnO2

Wonjung Choi et al.

Summary: This study synthesized Ta(V)-doped SnO2 (TTO) electrocatalysts as alternative to Sb-doped SnO2 (ATO) and found that the optimized TTO exhibits higher activity for the decomposition of phenol in certain solutions compared to ATO, but is less stable. Characterizations revealed a larger production of reactive oxygen species with ATO and reactive chlorine species with TTO.
