Deep diagnostic agent forest (DDAF): A deep learning pathogen recognition system for pneumonia based on CT

Weixiang Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully identified the pathogens based on CT volumes using the Deep Diagnostic Agent Forest model, demonstrating the important role of deep learning in pathogen diagnosis for pneumonia. The model showed superior performance in level-I and level-II pathogen recognition, outperforming human readers in accuracy.

Use of a Commercially Available Deep Learning Algorithm to Measure the Solid Portions of Lung Cancer Manifesting as Subsolid Lesions at CT: Comparisons with Radiologists and Invasive Component Size at Pathologic Examination

Yura Ahn et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of a commercially available deep learning (DL) algorithm for automatic measurement of the solid portion of surgically proven lung adenocarcinomas manifesting as subsolid lesions. The results showed that the DL algorithm's automatic measurements were comparable with manual measurements and demonstrated good agreement with invasive component size at pathologic evaluation.

Community-acquired pneumonia: Trends in and research on drug resistance and advances in new antibiotics

Luyan Shen et al.

Summary: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an infectious inflammation of the lung parenchyma which develops outside of a hospital, with a high mortality and morbidity rate worldwide, particularly among elderly patients. The increasing burden of CAP is attributed to antibiotic resistance, the growth of the elderly population, and underlying comorbidities. Streptococcus pneumoniae remains the most common bacterial pathogen causing CAP, but the emergence of multi-drug resistance bacteria and potential pathogens has increased the difficulty of managing CAP.
