Polymer microgels for the stabilization of gold nanoparticles and their application in the catalytic reduction of nitroarenes in aqueous media

Muhammad Arif et al.

Summary: Polymer microgels with a polystyrene core and poly(N-isopropylmethacrylamide) shell were synthesized, and gold nanoparticles were successfully incorporated into the shell region. The Au-P(STY@NIPM) system was found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst for the conversion of nitroarenes to aminoarenes using NaBH4 as a reductant.

Novel synthesis of sensor for selective detection of Fe+3 ions under various solvents

Muhammad Arif et al.

Summary: A naked-eye colored chemo dosimeter based on a vanilline-based conjugated sensor was synthesized and characterized. The main point of this paper is that the solvent also affects the selectivity of metals. The vanilline-based conjugate sensor exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity for detecting Ferric ions (Fe+3) in all solvents. The selectivity was more prominent in nonpolar or less polar solvents. The detection limit of the synthesized probes was shown to be up to 0.84 ppm. A filter paper strip system was used for rapid monitoring of detection by color variation.
