Deep Reinforcement Learning Based Active Pantograph Control Strategy in High-Speed Railway

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel pantograph control strategy based on deep reinforcement learning to overcome the time-varying characteristic of the pantograph-catenary system in the high-speed railway. By establishing a non-linear model and redesigning the state space, action space, and reward mechanism, the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method are demonstrated.

Robustness enhancement of machine fault diagnostic models for railway applications through data augmentation

Dachuan Shi et al.

Summary: In order to enhance the robustness of railway machine fault diagnosis applications, the authors proposed a novel data augmentation framework. Utilizing multibody dynamic simulation and fast weighted feature-space averaging, a large amount of simulated faulty data was generated, achieving infinite reality augmentation. Experimental results demonstrated the superiority of this approach over several state-of-the-art augmentation methods.

A Reinforcement Learning-Based Pantograph Control Strategy for Improving Current Collection Quality in High-Speed Railways

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a multiagent reinforcement learning algorithm called cooperative proximity policy optimization for active pantograph control. The algorithm utilizes heterogeneous agents playing different roles in a cooperative environment guided by the global value function. Experimental results demonstrate that this algorithm significantly reduces the fluctuation in pantograph-catenary contact force and improves the current collection quality.

Study on the Dynamic Performance of High-Speed Railway Catenary System With Small Encumbrance

Zhao Xu et al.

Summary: This article investigates the interaction performance between the pantograph and catenary of a high-speed railway system with small encumbrance. Experimental tests are conducted to examine the compression characteristics of short droppers, and a nonlinear dropper model considering tension-compression property is proposed based on the test results. A pantograph-catenary model integrated with the modified dropper model is then developed. The analysis of a China high-speed railway system reveals that the dynamic performance of the small encumbrance catenary is mainly affected by the compressing force generated from the compressed droppers. The interaction performance of the pantograph-catenary deteriorates significantly when the length of the shortest dropper is less than 400 mm. Conversely, the encumbrance does not have a distinct implication on the dynamic performance when the length of the shortest dropper exceeds 900 mm. It is suggested that the shortest dropper length should exceed 400 mm to ensure acceptable dynamic performance.

An Investigation on the Current Collection Quality of Railway Pantograph-Catenary Systems With Contact Wire Wear Degradations

Yang Song et al.

Summary: This article presents a stochastic analysis of the pantograph-catenary interaction performance with different levels of contact wire wear (CWW) based on four years of measurement data. The results indicate that CWW mainly affects the maximum and minimum contact forces, rather than the contact force standard deviation. The optimal pantograph-catenary interaction performance is observed certain years after CWW formation, but decreases with an increase in service time.
